Roasts should only be given to people who are actually funny. To me this guy is a joke, and a dumb one at that. I've watched him a few times on TV and he is not entertaining. Also the phrase "Git-R-Done!" is lame as well. Has Comedy Central run out of easy targets to roast? I hope this is the last idiot we have to see given a roast.

Roasts should be given to people we respect. Larry The Cable Guy deserves to be trashed, but for other comedians to take the time to do it is dumb.

To be honest, I am confused by this.

A roast is supposed to be an honor. You get roasted after having a successful career. Perhaps not after, but in the twilight of one's career. Not in the middle of it or beginning and not if you are just a mediocre success.

Well, lets go back in time to the original roasts for a minute. The Dean Martin Celebrity Roasts weren't always done in the twilight of the celebrity's career. A lot were, but not all of them. Some of them were up and coming stars that later became legends in their particular field. There are even a few of them could even be considered has-beens at this point. One in particular that stands out to me is Mr. T.

http://www.tv.com/dean-martin-celebrity-roast/mr.-t/episode/408422/summary.html?tag=ep_list;title;29

Sure he was very successful at the time the roast was done, but he had only been acting for four years at that point. And where is he now, doing commercials. I would put Larry the Cableguy in the same league as him. At some point people will get bored of him, and in 2020 the only time you'll probably see him anymore is endorsing some sort of redneck product in a commercial.

Given, the above example is not a Comedy Central Roast, but considering they did Flavor Flav I think that pretty much opened the door for anybody to be roasted on Comedy Central. At least Dino didn't roast people that were already washed up has-beens.

Yeah, Comedy Central has pretty much done a roast of whomever is available. Very few were actually worthy of it. I mean Bob Sagat?

The only roast he is worthy of is one over an open fire.

I disagree.

You may not appreciate him, but he has had a lengthy career in show business and definitely put in his dues.

The Bob Saget roast was pretty entertaining. Not as good as Leary, Carey, or Shatner, but fun to watch. I think everyone in America collectively shuddered when Larry got a roast. Who's next Carlos Mencia?

True. And frankly, I think the roasts are more for the comedians than the audience. I mean sure CC airs them, but I'm sure the fact that all those guys know each other has something to do with who gets chosen.

For example, if we aired a public roast of Syd/Jeebus/whoever from the forum, it might be funny to watch just because of the jokes themselves, but it would have special meaning for us because we know them, and there would probably be lots of inside jokes and references. I'm sure its the same way with the CC roasts, to some extent.

I suppose you can say that about Sagat. I know I've heard it before.

I certainly did enjoy the Shatner roast, but that's just because I'm a huge Trek fan, and really like Shatner.

Yeah I heard the advertisement for it and shook my head. I'm obviously not going to watch it. I've noticed the Roasts get progressively worse lately. I wouldn't doubt if Mencia got a roast, ugh...

You know, I was just wondering if there was a roast I would run faster from than the one for Larry...and you just answered my question lol.

I would've much rather they roasted Ron White if they had to use a Blue Collar Tour guy, his standup was always much better to me and not built on selling with catchphrases.

YES! I LOVE Ron White. He is the only member of the BCCT I will go out of my way to watch/see. No matter how many times I hear him tell a story (because his jokes are almost all long enough to be stories, which makes them even awesomer), I laugh.

Bill Engval is okay. He CAN be quite funny, but the family-oriented (by that I mean telling jokes about his family) only goes so far for me. Foxworthy is also okay, but same deal. And he seriously, seriously needs to retire the Redneck schtick. Larry, I can never stand to watch more than ten minutes of before I have to switch the channel. His kind of humor just doesn't compute for me.

I'd agree with you were it not for the fact that there seems to be the same rotation of comedians over and over who haven't even met most of the roast victims save for a few friends strategically placed.

Next year: Roast of Dane Cook, by roastmaster Carlos Mencia.

Not only is that not right, that's not even wrong. It's a meaningless statement. Saying something is "one molecule away" from plastic is like saying a farm is one letter away from a fart. Water is "one molecule away" from being explosive hydrogen gas.

I saw this, since there literally was nothing else on TV to watch.

Worst, horrible hour ot TV I think I've ever watched. The Friar's Club Roasts at least seem to have deserving people.

I love how around the 3 minute mark here, Greg just loses his damn mind and says everything that 90% of comedians want to say.

So here's to you Mrs. Robinson. People love you more- oh, nevermind.
