First, does anyone play Gradius or Parodius as much as I do?

Second, I think Gradius 3 is the best. I picked it up back in '91 and I was so hooked!

Especially these kinds of bosses.

I don't know about Gradius 4 or 5, because I don't have a PS2.

To the few who doesn't know what Parodius is, Go here.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parodius_series It will weird the shit out of you once you look!^^

Either Gokujyou Parodius or Sexy Parodius. No, Sexy Parodius is not a porn game.

Gokujo Parodius was released in Europe, in English, as "Fantastic Journey" Find that.

And I have Sexy Parodius.

I don't really like horizontally scrolling shooters after playing radiant silvergun and ikaruga. I usually play LifeForce / Salamander, because it has a mix of top down and horizontal, and hey, it's life force, can't go wrong there.

Dodonpachi is awesome.

G Darius is a good horizontal scroller.

I remember playing Earth Defense Force on my SNES and Abadox on the NES (used the invincibility code the day I got it and finished it within an hour. I was pissed).

Yeah, so was radiant silvergun. They're also both treasure games, so you know they're fucking impossibly hard

I had Phalanx for the SNES. There was an old banjo-playing guy on the cover art.

I love R-Type, but is Super R-Type too damn hard, or do I just suck?

And Salamander/LifeForce is how I got hooked onto Gradius in general.

And speaking of Vert shooters. does anyone play games from the Raiden series?
Image

Raiden Trad on the SNES is awesome, and the music is well done too.

I like raiden, raiden DX and raiden fighters, I've played them all a ton. I like the purple homing laser thing in DX.

Raiden is cool, but it's not really a space shooter. If we're doing all flying games though, I'd like to through the Strikers 1945 series into the ring as well as Gunbird 2.

Half of Raiden 1, 2, DX, and 3 (the ones I played) takes place in space, therefore, qualifing it as a "space shooter", but I am talking about all of people's faves.

And I've played Gunbird 2, but what is Strikers 1945?

Also, I thought you were talking about Capcom's 1942 and 1943, also good games.

The Capcom's 194X series is good too. Strikers 1945 is a series of 4 shooting games released by Psikyo, the company that did Gunbird 2 as well as the original Gunbird.

Pretty much any Psikyo shooter is good times.

Psikyo also released Cannon Spike, a rather underrated Smash TV style game licensed out from Capcom that stars Cammy and Charlie.
