While I do not have a sibling who could tell you all if I suddenly croaked, you have my word that if I ever decide to leave by choice I will post a long, annoyed, and emo goodbye thread so you all know exactly where you stand. If I disappear without warning, give me a week, then begin mourning.
That is all.

I have never played WoW, but hasn't there been online funerals there for real deaths in the past. I know I have seen articles to such effect. Maybe it wasn't WoW, but it was for some online game.

i remember seeing a video about this actually. i think it was the alliance that had a virtual 'funeral' and then the horde came by and started killing them all. i thought it was funny, but then i figured someone might consider it a dick move.

Syd I suggest setting up a fund so that we may send out "Sydlexia Collars" they will tell Sydlexia.com whatever anyone is doing at a particular time. Also hackers collar will have a special shock feature, you know for Jump Starting his heart, just incase he has a heart attack.

I didn't promise I'd never leave, I promised I'd never die! But now it doesn't matter, because I'm dead inside!
Syd, I think if you died, Jeebus and I would be the first suspects. But I'm sure whichever one of us DIDN'T kill you would tell the rest of the board what happened...

In a darker place and time, I contemplated this. I've already selected my harbinger but haven't gotten around to giving him the info yet.

I've thought about this before. And I've given my girlfriend specific instructions. There is a file on my computer and on my desk I printed out a copy.
On it lists all the sites and passwords she needs to go on and tell people I've died. Then she can send out my account to my friends on those sites so they can do what they wish to my internet remains.
All this is to be done before I am buried.
I told my parents too. The rolled their eyes but said they'd do it.

Yeah, I've considered this too. I should probably write it all down too, because I need someone to have access to my audacity files and mp3s and demos in case I die.
I've thought about this too. What I'm HOPING to do is to set up a machine in my body that posts an automatic death message when I die. Sadly, I can't do that.
Writing down passwords or giving them out to a person or company runs contrary to all my cryptography instincts. The only secure way of handling this problem that I can think of is writing my own version of the system that's described in the article, where I have to check in at certain intervals to prevent the info being sent out automatically. The technical aspect of that is trivial, but having to check in regularly would be a pain in the butt.

Don't forget you have to pay. I'm going with that service that sends an eMail when a family member logs on and activates the progress. MUCH easier.
I saw this a few days ago and realized that word would eventually circulate. Sadly it would be via Facebook. Someone would post something and then a bunch of people I don't really remember would say "awe that is horrible, I'm so sorry" and that would be the end. It would get back here via GreenEyedZeke most likely... if he is still alive.
As for the WoW funeral, it was on Illidan, a PvP server in a very vulnerable area. All of the players visiting the funeral site lined up to pay their virtual respects without any armor on.
God, I hate that WoW was a part of my life.

Harbinger doesn't mean what I want it to mean .
If I die, you will all probably have no idea unless somehow someone get's my password to my MSN or email address or facebook.
In that event, no one in my family or any of my friends would inform you guys, the only way you would know if it it was posted on facebook and Ross saw it.

What? Did you look it up after I used it?
