So yeah, one of the regulars I've gotten to know for a while comes by Friday night and as we're making small talk and shooting the breeze he decides he wants to play a few scratch offs, he finished off the last ten of our $2 tickets, winning $15 on one card. The last few came up bupkiss and he asked me to scan the last one just for the hell of it, if I was a less honorable/honest guy I would've told him that he didn't get a thing. But I am that honest, so I told him he just won $500, after being beside himself with laughter he says I can have $100 out of it.

Any instances with regulars you guys care to share?

When I was an appetizer chef for an upscale, hoity-toity restaurant, my station was next to the bar where we'd get all kinds of regulars, as bars tend to do. One night though, one of the regulars came in and just started raining money on everyone. He bought $500 bottles of champagne, ordered tons of food and invited the staff to partake, handed out some gifts to certain people, and then when he left that night, he left a gigantic tip to be shared with all of the staff. We each got around $50 from the guy (there were about 40 people working that night) and were flabbergasted that such a wealthy, high roller was a regular and everyone joked about how in the future, we should really kiss his ass.

Well, a few days later, we were told that he committed suicide that night, and he wanted to spend all of his money at his favorite place before he died. It was a pretty sad and sobering experience for everyone.

Damn. I wonder what was troubling him so much that he decided to go through with it after an awesome night. Sad

I work at a Whataburger (a Texas-based burger joint that has 700 restaurants spread out over the South), and work the 10pm-3am shift, so we always get interesting customers.
1) I was killing time having served up a ton of burgers, when a few girls come up to me and ask what my name is. I tell them, and one of them says "I knew you in elementary school!" Another went to middle school with me, so that was kind of weird be recognized like that. I see them from time to time, at work and school.
2) We have this group of flamboyantly gay Europeans that comes in every once in a while, and they're all stoned or drunk (then again, everyone that comes in to Whataburger at those hours usually is). They're pretty funny, though.
3) These aren't regulars, but we had a bunch of drunk frat boys come in five minutes before I was due to clock out, and they got in a fight. We had to call the cops, and the great thing was, the frat boys paid with credit cards, so we were easily able to pull their names, and I presume they were metaphorically raped by the law. Good stuff.
