...how stupid are these people? They didn't do one bit of research. Basically, they do a report targetting online child abusers...stating the Wii and Animal Crossing as a tool they can use. The Wii....the system where you need to exchange a 16-character code to talk with people online.
Secondly, when she shows the game footage she points to an *NPC* and says "This character could really be controlled by a pedophile in Califorina."
Then it has a policeman saying "There is no real reason for an adult to have Animal Crossing. If they do, its for the wrong reasons."
Guess that makes the two 20-something year old girls they show playing the game in the TV ad lady perverts then.

God dammit, I have wanted both a Wii and Animal Crossing for quite some time. I had no idea my thoughts could be considered pedophelic until now.
Assholes. The NPC bit is frigging classic.

Citizen says that cops who look like pedos who are accusing adults who own animal crossing of pedos, probably own animal crossing and are pedos.

I suppose "to collect the playable NES games" counts as the 'wrong reason".

I can imagine it all now. . .
Scary, Fat Pedophile Guy: "Oh, goody, I have friend codes from three, young, cute, six-year-old boys. I can't wait to start jacking off."
Later. . .
Scary, Fat Pedophile Guy: *On the mic in Animal Crossing: City Folk* "Hello, Rod. Where are your cute friends?"
Rod: "Uh. . . their mommies told them that you were really a scary, fat pedophile. In fact, you kinda sound like one. . ."
Scary, Fat Pedophile Guy: *Trembling nervously while jacking off* "Uh. . . erm. . . that's not true. I'm just a six-yrar-old boy with. . . uh. . . a glandular condition. Yeah, that's it."
Rod: "Yeah. . . 'glandular condition'. . ."
Scary, Fat Pedophile Guy: "By the way, it's a shame that we don't have cameras. I totally have this big boner for you."
Rod: "What's a boner?"
Scary, Fat Pedophile Guy: "It's when your dick gets nice and hard so you can. . ."
Rod: *Signs off*
Scary, Fat Pedophile Guy: "God dammit! I was about to orgasm, too!"

On second thought it's not a shabby idea to warn parents of any possible dangers online games may pose, but I still think that couching the way they did and the unfair stereotype of adults that play cutesy games they seem to be putting out there is both misguided and stupid.

I agree. I tried my very hardest to come up with some kind of wildly inappropriate wheelchair/pedophile joke, but I just couldn't do it by the end. God, that's sad.

The news director responds: (From http://www.crispygamer.com/news/inde...ory-criticism/)
| Quote: |
“I think Detective Anderson’s comments did take the story down an unintended path. We decided to do the story to let viewers know children had been contacted inappropriately through the game. It was not intended to be an indictment of the game or a smear piece on any form of interactive entertainment. The point of the story was to make parents aware so they could decide whether or not they needed to keep a watchful eye on their kids’ activities. The reporter even wrapped the story up by stressing police were not putting this information out to make people paranoid rather trying to make them aware. Upon reviewing the story, I fear much of the intent has been lost because of the comments we allowed into the story.” |

If you, Reporter, or Mr. Detective ever point to an NPC again and say it's coming for our children... I will piss on your brain and shit in your soul.

I remember the first time I saw that. The fact it still upsets me just proves how sad it is.
