I don't know what made me think of this, but it's possible to play through all 7 main Resident Evil games on different consoles. For example:

Resident Evil - Saturn
Resident Evil 2 - Nintendo 64
Resident Evil 3: Nemesis - Dreamcast
Resident Evil: Code Veronica - PlayStation 2
Resident Evil Zero - Gamecube
Resident Evil 4 - Wii
Resident Evil 5 - XBox 360

I'm not necessarily sure why you'd want to do this, but you could. Can anyone think of any other long-running series where this is possible?

I think you could pull this off with the Mario games as well, though it's slightly trickier, and involves handhelds instead of just consoles...

Super Mario Bros. - GBC
Super Mario Bros. 2 - GBA
Super Mario Bros. 3 - NES
Super Mario World - Wii (VC)
Super Mario World 2 - Yoshi's Island - SNES
Super Mario 64 - N64
Super Mario Sunshine - Gamecube
Super Mario Galaxy - Wii

Granted, that's a lot simpler, since the last three were the only Mario titles for the respsective consoles, and the games were remade and re-released so many times.

Hmm Final Fantasy would get a few different consoles but not all of them....

You could probably play Pac Man on just about anything. Confused

Final Fantasy actually might be possible.

Also, if RE5 gets the rumored Wii port, you'll be able to play all 7 REs on the Wii.

You forgot New Super Mario Bros., Fernin.

I don't think the FF series is possible... Take a look at how the series breaks down...

FF1 - NES, PS, GBA, WSC, MSX
FF2 - Famicom, PS, GBA, WSC
FF3 - Famicom, DS
FF4 - SNES, PS, GBA, DS
FF5 - SNES, PS, GBA
FF6 - SNES, GBA
FF7 - PS, PC
FF8 - PS, PC
FF9 - PS
FF10 - PS2
FF11 - PS2, PC, Xbox
FF12 - PS2
FF13 - PS3

Edited slightly for a few consoles that I forgot about.

FF3 never made it to WSC.

At any rate, it's possible to play the 7 Final Fantasies that matter on different consoles.

Let's cheat.

Mega Man = NES
Mega Man 2 = Genesis(Wily Wars Remake)
Mega Man III = XBox
Mega Man IV = PS2
Mega Man V = PS1
Mega Man VI = GCN
Mega Man VII = SNES
Mega Man 8 = Saturn
Mega Man 9 = Wii

Yay, I don't think the same can be said for Mega Man X though.

The Castlevania series is available on a pretty broad range of consoles. There are Castlevania games on the NES, SNES, Genesis, Gameboy, GBA, Nintendo DS, MSX, PC Engine, Saturn, Nintendo 64, Playstation, Playstation 2, PSP, Wii, Sharp X68000, Xbox, Amiga, and the Commodore 64. There was also a Castlevania game for the arcade (although not actually called that) and one for cell phones as well.

That is an impressive resume where I sit.

Let's see if I can try that:
Sonic 1: Genesis, Saturn, Gamecube, PS2, XBOX, GBA, Virtual Console, iPod
Sonic 2: Genesis, Saturn, Gamecube, PS2, XBOX, Virtual Console
Sonic CD: Sega CD, Saturn, Gamecube, PS2, XBOX
Sonic 3: Genesis, Saturn, Gamecube, PS2, XBOX, Virtual Console
Sonic & Knuckles: Genesis, Saturn, Gamecube, PS2, XBOX
Knuckle's Chaotix: Sega 32X
Sonic Spinball: Genesis, Saturn, Gamecube, PS2, XBOX, Virtual Console
Sonic 3D Blast: Genesis, Gamecube, PS2, XBOX, Virtual Console

And those were the Sega Genesis Sonic games, including the Sega CD and 32X games.

Actually, I bought a copy of that game from a used game shop and played it. I actually liked the N64 version.

I did, and I prefer it to the version I used to have (the windows version, I didn't get a PS1 'til 2000). Heck, I still think it's better than the PS1 version, though MAYBE that's the nostalgia talking.

The only think I liked about PS1 Resident Evil 2 better was the controls.

I'll take no load times over shitty control scheme any day.
