I think the ESA is stupid... Nice, and I was gearin up to go to LA next year (thanks assholes!) And the game companies are sayin "It's good!" They're kissing ESA ass. Some guy on GameSpot also made a very good point!!

"...OUR TASTES, OUR NEEDS AND OUR WALLETS HAVE SHAPED THE VIDEOGAME INDUSTRY INTO ITS CURRENT FORM. THE ELIMINATION OF E3 IS A SLAP IN OUR FACES BECAUSE IT DESTROYS THE PRESTIGE THAT WE HAVE ACHIEVED IN THE PAST YEARS, THE PRESTIGE THAT FORCES THE MEDIA TO ADMIT AT LAST THAT VIDEOGAMES IS ONE OF THE LEADING FORMS OF ENTERTAINMENT AND NOT JUST A HOBBIE FOR KIDS AND IDLE PERSONS. NOW WHAT; WE HAVE SHOWING TO THE WORLD THAT WE DONT HAVE WHAT IT TAKES TO BATTLE AND OVERCOME THE OTHER FORMS OF ENTERTAINMENT, THAT WE ARE AND WE'RE ALWAYS GONNA BE IN THE MINOR LEAGUE. CAN WE ACCEPT THIS INSULT?"

Smaller companies will get kicked in the nuts because they have nowhere to show off their new games.

Actually its the smaller companies that get screwed over because the big companies' booths are louder and bigger, drowning them into obscurity. Without E3 we might be seeing more individual company-centric game events.

Please note that E3 will be downsized, not "ELIMINATED". That's like downsizing Mardi Gras.

The sucky new E3 will be an "intimate event" that will still take place in LA, in 2 hotels. Last year's attendance of 65,000 will be not more than 10,000 next year. It will now take place in July.

Read about it on IGN for more details of this travesty.

What the hell is this about? I don't know about everyone else, but I think E3 is supposed to be a large convention, a celebration of video game culture. Moving it to a hotel will make it seem like. . . like. . . like some antiques convention or something. In short, this sucks ass.

PAX is a celebration of video game culture. E3, not so much. More of a giant advertisement that every company had to put huge amounts of money into lest you be swept aside by the power of larger companies.

Penny Arcade Expo.
Its celebration of video games.

But the gamespot guy is right. We lose any mainstream credit we had earned. But we will be okay. The world of video games is not dead unless both the Wii and the PS3 fail.

Oh, yeah, that.

Anyway, I agree with your incinuation that the Xbox 360 is Satan and Michael Jackson's half-gay retarded lovechild.

Maybe I'm being too harsh.

Nah.

boo fucking hoo man. everybody is taking this WAY to hard.

e3 was a very large commercial. i've been to 2 myself, and both times was dissapointed.
the focus is not on the games, but ways to market the games.
cheap giveaways
girls in skimpy costumes
loud noises and flashing lights.
idiotic company representitives who don't even give real information about the game. they just use words like "breathtaking" and "revolutionary"

i went to play some fucking games, but the average booth had 10 second clips of gameplay and some fat loudmouth talking about how amazing the game is.

e3 was all about which company could spend more money on loud speakers and bright lazers to attract the attention of gamers. it was not about the video games,it was about the marketing, and the exploitation of gamers.

in the future,i'd like to see more expos like PAX surface. where gamers get together, and play games. companys come and show their games, let the gamers experience the games for themselves rather than shove half naken women and free crap in their face in a feeble attempt to make them love the game before it's even half developed.

I am a worthless piece of crap.

I agree with B.B. King.

Except, keep the half-naked women.

I don't mind E3 being downsized. I read the E3 article at Seanbaby.com, and I couldn't believe how all those booths get shoved into the ass-end of the expo. Still, I think E3 should still have at least as much prestige as the Antiques Roadshow.

Wait, that would be cool. They could have E3 come all over the US. You could bring in electronic crap you have laying around, and get it appraised.

Everyone and their half naked women. A gaming expo loses respect for having had naked women.

In contrast, its not really that difficult to see a completely naked woman. Or a woman dressed like a video game character.

On that note, I suppose the adult entertainment expo they usually held on the above floor should still be going on.
