Playstation 3, Nintendo Wii, or the white and green clad demon spawn?

For me, it's the Wii. First of all, I love Nintendo. Second of all, I want to try out the Wii-mote.

Also, I may get a PS3 when the price lowers to somewhere around $350 for the premium PS3, just for the Gundam games.

Wii doesn't have the games I will want right away.

Brother-in-law has a 360 which I can pilfer.

I've got a dilemma.

Metal Gear is my favorite series, and it's exclusive to Sony.

But I don't want to pay $600 for a PS3.

What am I supposed to do? Sad

I'm in the very same boat.

Previously I have done the following:
Metal Gear Solid 2 - I avoided all spoilers for two years until Substance was released. By that time, I owned a PS2.

MGS for GameBoy Advance - Uber fans out there transcribed the whole game on GameFaqs. I got to enjoy all the story and plot without having to actually play/buy the game. You miss out on a lot of the fun stuff like gameplay, battle advice, and witty save speeches, but if you're playing for plot, it fills you right in.

Breaks my heart to say it, but reading the transcript for MGS Advance wasn't too bad. In fact, I highly enjoyed it; it was just like reading a potential script. I might have to do the same for MGS4, because I'm a plot whore, I NEED to know what the hell is going on. And I highly doubt I'll be able to live under a rock for the number years it will require to avoid spoilers.

However, I know the game will be INCREDIBLE to play and I'll be unable to experience that until it drops a few hundred dollars... Or I start paying in installments... Either way, I share your pain. Crying

Me too. . .sort of. As you can see by my avatar, I'm a Gundam fan. I've read about how awesome Gundam games are coming out for the PS3 and the Xbox 360, and it looks like the Wii will only have another shitty SD Gundam game. Also, I have a love for many series' that are Sony-exclusive. My plan is to get a PS3 when the price lowers to around $350, or if I win the lottery or something and I have a lot of extra cash.

So, it looks like you, me, and Avian should form a support group.

I don't think I can avoid spoilers for as long as would be necessary. I've gotten all 3 of the past MGS games the day they came out (and beat them all within 48 hours.)

As you can see, i'm kind of obsessed Very Happy

And sadly enough......even though it's only one game, it may very well be enough to sway me towards Sony.

One positive note......I've got a jar of change that I've been saving for over 2 years SPECIFICALLY for the purpose of buying a PS3. I estimate it's got about $400 in it now. So even if the price of the PS3 is $600, it will only SEEM like it's costing me $200, because I don't even think of the money in the jar as being money that I actually have. It's like "free" money.

Still, though.......I think paying out that kind of money for a videgoame system would keep me awake at night

I've got a Wii and Twilight Princess on my Christmas list. That being said, it hurts I won't get to play MGS4 and Resident Evil 5.

I would like to think that RE5 will get a Wii release. When Capcom originally announced it for PS3/360, there wasn't really much known about the Wii hardware. But I mean come on, the GCN release of RE4 pretty much saved the franchise, renewing interest in what had become a somewhat formulaic series of games. If Capcom doesn't release RE5 on the Nintendo, they're total fucking pricks. Then again, RE4 and Viewtiful Joe were originally supposed to be GCN exclusives, so it's quite possible that Capcom is comprised of total fucking pricks.

I just realized. . .

In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Snake will be a playable character, yet MGS is Sony-exclusive. So, there is a chance that MGS is prepped for a Wii release, just later than the other systems. Either that, or Konami is tripping on acid, one of the two.

Well, there was already an MGS on GCN, Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes. So it's highly possible we'll see an MGS on the Wii.

Here's how I'm looking at franchises:

MGS: PS3 for sure, possible Wii port or at least a side-story game.

Resident Evil: PS3 and 360, possible future Wii installment.

Silent Hill: PS3 and likely the 360. PS3 most likely, Wii port highly unlikely.

GTA: PS3 and 360 ports. Wii, not bloody likely.

Zelda: Wii exclusive.

Final Fantasy: PS3... for the moment. FFXI was ported to the 360 and Nintendo seems to have a fairly stable relationship with Square, not to mention the "Crystal Chronicles" spinoff.

Rockstar will port GTA to the Wii if they have any fucking common sense. I mean come on. Using the Wii controller, you'd really feel like you were beating those hookers to death.

Well, there was a Grand Theft Auto game for GBA, so there may be a chance that we will get it on the Wii.

Right on that end, but I have my doubts.

As if money was an issue, let us not forget the epic battle between Fox and WB on the Adam West Batman series. Both studios stand to make a lot of money if they would just play fair, but alas, that day will not see the light of day for several years.

If I recall, the daughter of one of the producers of the 1960 Batman movie is currently suing Fox because she's entitled to a bunch of money stemming from the DVD release.

nintendo. im a GCN owner *sigh* and will reserve a Wii.
already own a xbox 360. im not impressed.
ps3. i can't see it being any good,since they totally ripped off the premise of the wii since they had nothing new to offer gamers. just a slightly faster console.

Maybe so, I don't recall that, but Fox and WB are still in "negotiations". Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if a PA from the show sued . Everyone wants a piece of that pie. I'll agree with you that there is more than one reason why that set will not see the light of day for awhile.

Back to the 360, PS3, Wii debate, I'm just glad these things only happen every half a decade or so. I swear, there's a bigger interest on what system people are going to get than who's in office. Is this merely a prelude for 2008? By 2012, most of us will own two if not all three of these systems.

But in all seriousness, I will probably end up buying a PS3 when the price lowers to an acceptable amount.

Also, I was parodying the Batman theme from the original TV series. There are 16 Na's in that theme, and if you count them I have the right amount. Or I don't. I really don't give a fuck.

I agree with some of your satirical comments. I think Sony is well aware they are overpricing the system based on the numbers they carry in the fan community. Their "improvements" that they claim are worthy of the hefty price tag may not be genuine. But they have the system and we're the consumers, so damned are we... or is that Wii?
