Hell no. I'm watching Cold Case, cuz nothing else is on. I think FOX should have run new episodes of its animation block opposite the Oscars, because they attract two very different demographics. Instead, they're running some stupid NASCAR bullshit that only people in New Hampshire and the Deep South care about.

Slumdog Millionaire won 7 awards to my count.

I saw it tonight. Believe the hype.

I didn't watch it (I'm not a big fan of self-congratulatory wastes of time), but it was good to see today that Heath Ledger won (as if he wouldn't) and Dark Knight won another technical award. 2 oscars for a comic book movie isn't bad and a step in the right direction if the Academy is ever going to drop the snobbish art house attitude about movies.

I'm a little disappointed to see Mickey Rourke go away empty-handed. He deserved to win.

Er, I guess it's a little late at this point but...spoilers? (not that anyone was waiting with baited breath to watch a recording and be surprised, I gues...)

I was, too. However, my disapointment with that was alleviated by the fact that Danny Boyle won a very, VERY well deserved Oscar. (Not only was Slumdog amazing, I have a feeling this is to honor a lot of his past work, too.)

Overall, I thought this was one of the best Oscars I've seen, at least in recent memory. Hugh Jackman was a great host--talented, amusing, and didn't feel the need to force jokes in the way a comedian host does. (His opening medley was amazing.) I loved the idea of having five past winners introduce the acting nominees--inspired. None of the speeches were too long or too boring (not by Oscar standards anyway). Overall a fairly low key, classy night. I enjoyed it.

And once again, DANNY BOYLE WON!! YEEHAW!! Very Happy

I totally agree, though I made my point of it on the chat last night.

Thoughts on Ben Stiller's shot at Joaquin Phoenix?
