i used to do power hours a lot...if you're not familiar, it's one shot of beer every minute for an hour. they're way fun...anyone here done one of these?

They call that the "century club" here. Did that once in college. It beat the shit out of me. Then again, my friends probably were cheap and bought Busch Light, which I find impossible to keep down in drinking games.

There is one club here that does something called "Power Hour" on Monday nights. For one hour all drinks are only $1 each, whatever you want. I don't care for that club though since everybody there is a total douche most of the time, not the employees but everybody else there. Besides that they do this thing on Monday nights and I work at 8 in the morning on Tuesday so I can't get wasted and then have to go to work.

Beer Power Hour's will hardly give you alcohol poisoning. However, the now banned version of power hour (taking 21 shots every minute on the night of your 21st birthday) has had many cases of alcohol poisoning.

I sure hope you meant 21 shots over the course of the night, and not 21 shots every minute.

This guy I knew once made it through 2 minutes and 4 seconds. I am pretty sure that he is in the record books... and hell.

This power hour just seems like a milder version of the century club. The century took a hundred minutes and I think it worked out to be around 8 beers, which isn't terribly bad. Except in my century days, we made "cool 80's mix tapes" that would have 100 songs at 1 minute lengths, and at the end of the song you would drink.
The power hour I'm familiar with is what IceWarm said, go to a bar filled with many douchebags and fight your way through the jammed pack bar to the front of the line and buy as many cheap drinks as they are willing to sell you for an hour.

We used to do power hour and century club. I used to get made fun of because I can drink more beer than most people I know but have never been able to finish even power hour. For whatever reason, the foam always builds up and I have to quit about half way through. I can still drink beer afterward, I just can't keep up with a shot a minute.
