Many might consider that wolves are just slightly more interesting than trees. While I personally think that they are about equal, wolves are pretty cool animals. Scary as shit too.

YAWN!!!! I see coyotes all the time when I go home, deer carcasses, feral cats, feral dogs, hawks, eagles, foxes, wolves, groundhogs, raccoons, skunks, badgers, rabbits, hares, hyenas, wildebeests, moose, and grandpas all the time..... These photos are nothing. Wait for the summer when I show you some REAL nature. I'll even photo the ginormous Communist anthills...
I agree GPF... It's sad though that there are only 1 or 2 wolves left in the Adirondack Mountains due to people having an insane fear about them tearing them from limb from limb.

THAT would be a kickass pet. From what I understand they're quite intelligent and trainable, and adapt well to humans. They need a lot of space, though.

Dogs are stupid. All talk pertaining to dogs is banned. This is a decidely pro-cat site.
And as far as feral cats go, ocelots, motherfucker. Those things are fucking badass.
This might sound like a dumb question...and that's because it is. But, would it be difficult to tame a wolf enough to have it as a pet?
I think that the wolf could be trained, but its instincts would need to be bread out before it was safe.
They chase shit to kill it. You would need to teach it not to eat babies.
They smell blood and eat. What if you got a cut shaving? What if your wife had her time of the month?
They are silent and stalk. So you don't know when and where it will be.
I do think you could befriend a wolf if you knew it from birth, but that moment would come where it would no longer be a safe creature. It may only be a split second, but that is a huge risk.

Exactly. It's potentially possible, more so than with any other truly wild animal I'd think), but all it takes is one snap of instinct for you or a loved one to be seriously hurt or dead.
Look at what happened to Roy of Seigfried and Roy. Raised the animals from cubs, loved them, treated them like babies, never had any problems before...and all of a sudden, instinct kicked in and wham, Roy was almost a tiger entree.
Imho, those animals were just not meant to be caged or tamed. As cool as it would be...just no.

They would need to breed hundreds of generations to get those instincts out of big cats and wolves. Even then, the sheer size of these animals could pose a threat at times.

I'm not quite sure what you mean so I'll simply state that "Taz" was mostly blind and also declawed.
As for this whole thing about making a pet out of a wild animal, I couldn't find the clip from Fox's Titus where he wants to have a wolf for a pet so I'll just remind you guys that it's been, what, a week, since a chimp mauled someone's face off, possibly for good.

And Garfield was great when we were kids. "Garfield & Friends" was a good show.

ok, ill agree w/you on both these counts. they do have that 'F you, i run this show and you have to reorganize your life around my schedule' attitude.
but dogs show WAY more appreciation and enthusiasm when you get home. cats just look at you and maybe lay down on your lap.
and Garfield was a good show as a kid. even the comic strip was good, but unfortunately i just dont feel it aged well. maybe im just too cynical nowadays
