First day of classes for the semester...already have about $6000 in tuition and "Fees" on my account for this semester. Add to that the fact that I just spent $170 to park in a hardly ever uncrowded parking lot, and the $500 in books I just bought (4 of em...4!!!). I didn't even bother to buy all the books "required" because of last semester. I didn't even OPEN half of them. Then they won't buy them back for the ridiculous amount they usually give.
I for the first time went to half.com and bought my books AGAIN because I can return the ones I just bought. The total was about $80 cheaper. Fuck school, Fuck the economy, I just wanna live in a van down by the river. [/rant]
Vent your frustrations here.
FUCK COLLEGE!!!!

I agree. Fuck college. And I am just going to junior college. The level of Ass-ramming the regular ol' colleges give is haunting me. I can't sleep well.
Damn though. I'm at midterm right now and only own maybe half the books. Oh sure I NEED the rest but I'll tell you what I tell my teachers when they bitch. "I am a pizza delivery boy. That is my only source of income. And I am here, paying for tuition. And you want me to buy a $180 book? Then start tipping better. I am broke as hell."
Most of them appreciate it.

Last year I had to spend $250 on a single book, Gardner's Art Through The Ages. Apart from being more expensive than most of my guitars, the fucker weighed more than my dog. Thank God it's a kickass reference book (not coffee table book, most tables couldn't handle it), so I kept it. If I ever need $30 though...

1.5 semesters in, I concurred with your sentiment.
I packed my bags and went home never to return... until I went to work for a university.
Five years later, I packed my bags and left never to return... until I went to work for yet another university.
Here I sit. Working at a university. There are perhaps a hundred like me here... Managerial & Professional status workers without degrees.
It is an odd thing. Odd indeed.
But, on the bright side, I make 1.5x the tuition that they charge! So I am winning!

I'm gearing up to try to go back to school this year or next and you guys are scaring me! I may end up doing online or correspondence courses though, that way I don't get pissed off at an idiot in my class and destroy what little makes them a human being. I'm sorry but I hate stupid people, especially in an educational setting. My education has been held back most of my life because of teachers having to slow down for the stupids, so I'll have my revenge... or something.

College was the best four years of my life. I'd go back in a heart beat, bills and all. its expensive but unless you did squat for research you knew that going into it and can't do anything about it because thats how it works. So why are you worrying/stressing/complaining about something you have absolutly no control over and knew was going to occur?
If these are classes that are important to you and your future I would probably keep the books anyways.

In a way, each of us has an El Guapo to face. For some, shyness might be their El Guapo. For others, a lack of education might be their El Guapo. For us, El Guapo is a big, dangerous man who wants to kill us. But as sure as my name is Lucky Day, the people of Santa Poco can conquer their own personal El Guapo, who also happens to be *the actual* El Guapo! |

College was a great time. Well not at first, but after two transfers, it was fucking awesome. I learned a lot and grew as a person.
If I wasn't in my late twenties, I'd love to go back.

I am and am n the college library now, going back I decided I didn't want to be stuck in a rut job for the rest of my life and figured this was the best way to get out.
Currently, things are moving well and slowly, the Federal stuff is moving even slower.

hehe, when I went to college, I fucking hated it. Even though most of my classes were pretty fun, I still loathed going. I got my two year, and some change (about a years worth I think). I work doing what I love, but it's still work. In retrospect, college was so easy and fun. I've been thinking that I would return to finish up and get my bachelors, because even though I have the skill, and a decent job, it never hurts to have the schooling to back it all up. The hard part is going back to school because it's out of town, so I would be forced to quit my job, and working part time or as an intern for 10 bucks an hour while i attend school, would be tough for me now being used to a certain income.

I'm in my mid twenties and I'm doing it so banks will actually look at me as someone who can eventually pay back a loan for a substantial amount of money. Degrees are everything nowadays...sadly. I mean I make a very decent amount of money, it's like having 3 full-time jobs at McDonalds, but it's definitely not a job I love. Hence the additional loan when I get my student loans paid off. I WILL open a video game store and it will be grand!!! GRAND I SAY!!!

I lasted two semesters, slacked off partly due to being able to play Dreamcast with my buds in the student lounge (mostly GGX, MvC2, Soul Calibur, and CannonSpike) and had to get a job to pay for school myself after that point.

Was GGX actually released over here on the DC? Or was this a burned ISO?

Oh god. Cannon Spike is one of the best games for the system. Gah. I wish my copy wasn't broken.

Counting undergrad, the Master's degree, and my progress on my Ph.D., I'm currently in year (umm... carry the one) ten of college. As of September of this year, I will have been in some form of college (whether undergrad or grad school) for a decade.
Someone shoot me in the face.

Thou, because I am wroth, be not dismayed, for I shall win the strife, whoever circle round within for the defence. This their insolence is not new, for of old they used it at a less secret gate, which still is found without a bolt. Above it thou didst see the dead inscription; and already on this side of it
descends the steep, passing without escort through the circles,
One such that by him the city shall be opened to us. |

A burned ISO, I borrowed the disc from my friend while he borrowed Sonic Adventure from me and after a few plays the thing degraded into nothingness.
