I would reccomend steambot chronicles
Search it in Google and click on the wiki page
The game starts out with you answering some questions to determine your personality and that affects how others treat him
Then you wake up on a beach with the memory of his name and a girl standing over you then you progress and get a trotmobile a trot mobile is basically a car with legs and later on you join a band and....well that's about all I can explain because the game is how your choices make it. I don't mean the story is entirley different but there are different endings
The purpose of the trotmobile's is for fighting (you get wepons to put on them) and transporting things and people including you and the girl who found you on the beach
There are many and I mean MANY sub quests some can only be done before you beat the game and go into the year after mode where you play after whatever ending happens.
This is a fun game and will give you many hours of enjoyment

I would have to say Ico. Its hard as hell (I don't even think I'm half way through it), but its also pretty fun and the puzzles are great.

Has anyone played Braid for the 360? at first glance it doesn't look all that great, but I read good reviews for it...anyway I'm curious about it now.

Is it comparable in "fun" as Shadow of the Colossus? I've been meaning to try Ico since it was made by the same creative team, but have been nervous to do so because I'm afraid it won't live up to my expectations after SOTC.

Thou, because I am wroth, be not dismayed, for I shall win the strife, whoever circle round within for the defence. This their insolence is not new, for of old they used it at a less secret gate, which still is found without a bolt. Above it thou didst see the dead inscription; and already on this side of it
descends the steep, passing without escort through the circles,
One such that by him the city shall be opened to us. |

Other than the usual suspects (FF, Zeldas, etc), I would have to say Shadow of the Colossus. I've never seen a game tell a story that is so pure, and draws you in so well. The visuals are pure art too.
Also Gun. Yes, it has some flaws, but for me the fun factor far outweighs them. Blasting through the old west on a horse while dual wielding colt revolvers, or a Winchester rifle? Fuck yes.
Mass Effect too. Most everyone knows the game is frigging awesome, but I couldn't not plug it.
Oblivion and Morrowind. Morrowind if you want to be drawn in to an amazing, exotic, and exceptionally crafted world. Oblivion if you want a completely freeform alternate life simulator.

I would recommend Wonder Boy in Monster World. I bought it fairly recently and I've been somewhat addicted to it.
Edit: It's on Virtual Console if you wanna play it.

I'd say Turok. The game took me for a surprise, since the only other good Turok was Turok: Dinosaur Hunter on the N64. For a series reboot, it deserves a Hell Yeah.
Also, Army of Two was pretty Kick ass...

Well in terms of Tactical Shooters, definately pick up any of the Rainbow Six games. Road Rash 2 for the Genesis is also a game you just need to play. Shinobi 3, Shadowrun (SNES or Genesis, they both bring something different to the table). Skeleton Krew (Some might not like it, but you should try it anyway). Tetris (Tengen version = Win, If you can get it, get it now. If you can't I guess you can get the Nintendo version, but It's not really good compared to the Tengen version). I've also got 4 WORDS for you guys. METAL. GEAR. SOLID. SERIES. OH YEAH!

The Tenchu Series.....at least the earlier games.
Tenchu Stealth Assassins was the game that defined stealth action. It was done much better in this game than in MGS. The game had tons of bugs and flaws, but was still a shitload of fun. The stealth kills NEVER got old.

Was Shadow of the Colossus really as awesome as the reviews say? I want to play it, and I can find it for sale, but I'm on the fence about it.
At random, I'd recommend any of the Phoenix Wright games, Little Big Planet (has consumed my soul!) and a little Bust A Move for good measure.

Not only is that not right, that's not even wrong. It's a meaningless statement. Saying something is "one molecule away" from plastic is like saying a farm is one letter away from a fart. Water is "one molecule away" from being explosive hydrogen gas. |

Whether you like it or not, its worth giving a try. Its one of those games that needs to be experienced. Kinda like Killer7, except your significantly more likely to like SoTC.
Astro Boy: Omega Factor for the GBA, God Hand for the PS2, Street Fighter III Third Strike for the MAME, also on Anniversery Collection on PS2 and Xbox.
Persona 4 for the PS2. I'll elaborate later if necessary.

Actually, I played Tenchu 2: Birth of the Stealth Assassins a lot, mostly because of the level editor feature. It was really fun to make your own levels and see how they turn out.

Agreed, never played the game, but all the talk on this thread has got me excited to try it.

Yea T2 was definitely a good game as well, but I preferred the darker atmosphere of the original.

Shadow of the Colossus is kind of iffy for me. I own the game, and the battles are the textbook definition of "epic", but there's one thing I simply cannot stand: the parts in-between battles where you're just riding your horse. Sure, I'm a fan of exploration, but when you're constantly searching for the next battle for almost forty minutes, then you have to turn back and go searching for another 20 minutes because your sword light was in reality pointing through a wall, it gets a bit tedious.
Personally, I'd recommend Parasite Eve. An action-RPG for the ages, think of a turn-based Resident Evil.

Oh hell yes, +1 on PE, especially the original. I still have nightmares about trying to fight my way through the damn Chrysler Building. Fuck you, giant Roach.
As for SoTC, I'm with you as far as it being really fucking irritating to have your sword light lead you astray like that when all you want to do is find the next damn battle. That's more of a glitch or programing flaw though imo.
I do see where you're coming from on the exploration being boring I wholeheartedly disagree, mind you, but I can see how you reach that conclusion. It does break the rules in a way, and ordinarily I would say that much quote unquote "nothing" in a game is wrong. For SoTC though, I think it fits perfectly. SoTC isn't JUST a game, its trying to draw you into the experience of the myth its telling. I know that sounds impossibly pretentious and wishy-washy, but its the best way I can think to express the thought. The empty landscape, the vistas, the travel, and yes even the wrong turns, dead ends and backtracking are like the exposition in a book. Now, unlike exposition it doesn't provide you with back story or plot points, but it gives you an emotional connection to the ancient land you're traveling through, and by association, to the colossi (who are of that land) that you are working to destroy.
Now, I'm not saying anyone is WRONG for not getting that out of it. I'm just saying that's what I (and some others, I think) got out of it, and why it's regarded so highly.

Oh yeah, the exploration was fun for a while. On my first play-through, after I beat the second colossi I put the third on hold and just explored the world for a while; there was nothing quite like the feeling of entering a vast desert, a swampy dead landscape, a seemingly-forgotten shrine next to a dryed up lakebed, and a huge colosseum in the course of little more than an hour. Added to this effect was the feeling of being alone in a desolate world yet finding companionship in your horse.I guess the problem with me is that I suppose you could say I "broke" the game; I explored so much early on that towards the end I became impatient as I'd seen all of the environments multiple times.

Wow, there are 307,000,000 results on google for reccomend. People love to misspell recommend. I am going to just assume that Hacker is responsible for at least half of those 307 million results though.
