Has anyone here at the forums ever experienced anything out of the
ordinary, like a ghostly encounter or just something that was not normal?
When I lived alone, I was positive my apartment was haunted. I was the most Dana Scully like skeptic imaginable but one night, I took a shower, locked my door and started making dinner.
I heard a thump in the bathroom and only had one full bottle of shampoo in the shower. When I went to investigate, the shampoo had somehow gotten into the floor, which it would have had to jumped, and the contents had been completely squeezed out. I was fuckin' freaked out, but in all honesty that is the only really creepy thing to happen to me, other than being chased by bums with broken glass bottles, but that is a story for another day.
Ok, your guys turn.

1. I was spending the night at my grandparent's house a long time ago. I was in my bedroom when I woke up around 2 in the morning. I saw a green figure moving around in the closet. I jumped out of bed and turned on the light, but nothing was there.
2. There is a 2 part graveyard in the town I used to live in, separated by a highway that was always busy. We were driving on the road one evening and I saw a white figure near one of the graveyards.

I've recently decided to look at it like this:
1. If I ever encounter a ghost, rather than freaking out, I should be relieved to learn that there is life after death. The bad part is, what happens to all of these ghosts once our sun dies out? Do they all wonder the baron wasteland (no likely frozen) for all of eternity? Also, what about if Earth is destroyed? Do the ghosts float through space? Finally get admitted into Heaven/Hell? Or what?
2. If I ever encounter a UFO or E.T., I will know that once Earth becomes inhabitable, or destroyed, with their help (or maybe our own by then) the human civilization could potentially survive. But since this isn't likely going to help me out any (unless it happens during my lifetime and they agree to come back and get me), I'd rather not have any close encounters.
I did see something weird once. I was at a friend's house. Someone was using the WC and I needed to take a squeege, so I stepped outside to go. I was out there about a second when I seen what appeared to be a greenish colored fireball move across the sky from the south to the north. It seemed kind of large (about the size of a quarter in the sky), but I couldn't tell how far away it was, so I don't know how large it was for sure. But I'm sure that if you held your thumb out, it would be larger than that (visually, obviously, not real size). I wanted to run back inside, but the combination of being scared shitless and curiousity wouldn't allow me to move until it was out of sight. I still have no idea what the fuck it was.

Well, many years ago, I saw something in the sky. A glowy kind of ball. Kind of like what scamrock described. Maybe a bit smaller. Mind you, back then I was a paranormal junkie so I FLIPPED THE FUCK OUT. After a smack in the head or two, I shut up about it.
And my grandma's house, I am certain is, well maybe not HAUNTED, but something is up. I've been alone for the last month or so since she went to Texas. Late at night, while I am up posting, I hear footsteps and the like, you know, depresses in the floor? Unexplained creaking or banging?
But... Last week i think it was, a toilet flushed. I ran upstairs and no one was there. All the doors are locked, and the security system was acting normal. I've heard that damn toilet twice now.
Freaks me the fuck out. WHY THE FUCK IS SOMETHING FLUSHING THE DAMN TOILET?!

I hear that. The stories are bleh but the drawings? Fucking nightmare fuel. I can remember this one. A partly decomposed face with BIG ASS EYES THAT BORE INTO YOUR SOUL AND KILL IT SLOWLY FROM THE INSIDE WHILE YOUR MIND IS FILLED WITH NOTHING BUT HORROR AND YOUR BODY QUAKES WITH FRIGHT.
A little freaky.

I picked one of those awesome books in the gift shop of the Salem Witch Museum heh. Wish I still it had for D&D material (mostly for the aformentioned mindfucker pics).

Just reading about this shit creeps me out, I turned some lights on and the T.V.
I get creeped the fuck out but i can't NOT read this shit.
I have never had a paranormal experience, nor do I really believe in it. I must believe in some small part to get creeped the fuck out.

Hehe. Anorexorcist, I don't believe in that crap anymore either. Not for years.
But let me tell you this: Being alone in a house and having a toilet flush when there is no possible way for someone to have done it?
Makes you turn on a light or two when you sleep.

lalalalalalalalalalala I can't hear you lalalalalalalalala.
I'll read that link tomorrow, I want to sleep tonight. My family is home but I'm a bit spooked still. I heard a thump that sounded like it came from the basement, though we are all upstairs. Freaked my out a good bit, but the heat is blowing from the vents, pretty certain it was the furnace.
That's my conclusion, I'm sure as shit not investigating.
The thing that freaks me out about the paranormal is just that, even if they aren't dangerous, they are still there and you cannot hurt them or defend yourself agains them with a weopon like you could a burglar. It's the vulnerability you have when facing paranormal that freaks me out.

I REMEMBER that story. Something about how the chick's boyfriend buried her in the basement of a church, and then the priest comes in and investigates a weird nose, and she just...pops out. I always thought the drawings were the worst part of those books; like this one drawing, I remember, had this dude's head lying on a floor with perhaps the most grotesquely psychotic facial expression. It probably didn't help that it looked my dad.
Plus, there was a story with an introduction involving a midget who finds a human toe on the ground, and he's like, "Hey, dinner!" I don't even think that was supposed to be the scary part, but at the time I was eight, and the concept of eating someone's toe really got to me.
Paranormal experiences? Hmm...on rare occasions, when I'm taking a shower or when I'm just standing on front of the sink three feet away from the shower, I'll see a weird, white... movement...of some sort in the shower.

Personally, I've always thought that ghosts aren't literally "here" in the way you're suggesting. More like they're the projection/energy/ether/whatever from...wherever the afterlife is. *shrug* But you're right, I had never thought about the other possibility before. ALTHOUGH, I will say a personal (pipe, obviously) dream of mine has been to see the Big Bang. From nothing...to everything, just like that. Failing that though, being a ghost floating around the solar system who gets to watch our sun eventually become a nebula would be pretty effing cool too.
As for paranormal experiences...well, nothing concrete like what a lot of you are saying. No ghostly figures, although I (like most people I'm sure) have certainly had fleeting glances and *feelings* that point to Elsewhere.
Closest thing I ever had was one night while I was stargazing (astronomy/astrophysics buff--guilty), I did see something. It wasn't a concrete shape or anything, just a bunch of lights. I've seen my share of airplanes, it wasn't that, I know my planets, it wasn't that either, and it sure as fuck wasn't a weather balloon, so I dunno. It didn't move around super erratically like a lot of UFO reports say so maybe it was something mundane I just saw from a weird angle. It did seem to disappear after a while...*shrug* so I dunno. I'm far more Mulder than Scully on things like this, but the most I can say with certainty is I dunno what I saw.

Hey, you were fairly warned. When I read that thing I was worried that we don't have blinds on the large window that is the front door and the kids would come to the door in the dead of night.

I also don't have blinds in the bedroom at the moment. So for putting that thought in my head, I officially hate your soul, lordsathien.

I don't have blinds in my living room with a number of Windows or on my doors...
Thank god I have blinds in my room. I refuse to read that right now.
I don't know if it counts because many things could logically explain it but when I was about 10-12, we rented my friends grandmothers cottage and it had a detached room area thing where me and my friend would sleep. I came inside to take a shit, he waited in the kitchen I guess and the motion detecter light comes on. He didn't set it off and I don't think a rabbit/squirell would set it off, maybe a raccoon but I doubt it. He looked out and nothing was there, when I get out of the shitter he informs me of this and we say fuck it, we're not going back out to the room, we close as many blinds as we can and grab the couches. I didn't sleep for shit I was pretty fucking scared.
Never did end up sleeping in that detached room, not after that, fuck that. Like I said, it's probably explainable, but it wasn't a chance I was willing to take.

I saw a UFO once. Pretty sure at least Tube shaped...too low to be a satellite, too quiet to be a plane. Flew in the direction of my house, stopped, elevated straight up, then turned around and left.
On another note, my house is haunted. It's 120 years old, but the only person to die since they relocated it was my grandma. Every once in a while, we'll all be in the living room and all the dishes in the kitchen sink will just...move. Crash bang, readjusted in the sink.
The weirdest thing though? K, my grandma and I had a really close relationship while she was alive...when I play "Wish You Were Here" in my room with all the lights off...all my walls creak and tic, and the air adjusts. And I know she's there. I usually talk to her. One night the presence was really strong, and I closed my eyes...and fucking SAW HER. Just for a second, but it was definitely her.
