So Quentin Tarantino's WWII movie Inglourious Basterds is finally becoming a reality. I remember reading about the first drafts of the script as far back as 2001. If you have no idea what the movie is about, here's a quick summary:

Quote:
Inglourious Basterds begins in German-occupied France, where Shosanna Dreyfus (Mélanie Laurent) witnesses the execution of her family at the hand of Nazi Colonel Hans Landa (Christoph Waltz). Shosanna narrowly escapes and flees to Paris, where she forges a new identity as the owner and operator of a cinema.

Elsewhere in Europe, Lieutenant Aldo Raine (Brad Pitt) organizes a group of Jewish soldiers to engage in targeted acts of retribution. Known to their enemy as “The Basterds,” Raine’s squad joins German actress and undercover agent Bridget Von Hammersmark (Diane Kruger) on a mission to take down the leaders of The Third Reich. Fates converge under a cinema marquee, where Shosanna is poised to carry out a revenge plan of her own…

The movie recently finished filming in Germany and France and is now in post-production with Tarantino trying to get a first cut done for the Cannes film festival in May. He really seems to be determined to meet that deadline, because yesterday the first teaser for the movie premiered on Entertainment Tonight. Here's a shitty bootleg of what they aired:

I read that they want to release the teaser on the web over the course of the day, so hopefully we'll get a better quality version soon. In the meantime here are some still shots from the movie:

Feel free to talk about how awesome this is gonna be or how overrated Tarantino is.

I'm a huge Tarantino fan. I'm not saying he can do no wrong, but I love most of his stuff. So the odds are, I'll love this too. I've been waiting for a while to see this.

The official version is out:

Nothing too spectacular, but it's just an early teaser and a green band one at that, so that's to be expected. I'm not yet convinced by Brad Pitt as a "hillbilly from the mountains of Tennessee" though. But we'll see.
