http://news.yahoo.com/nphotos/Popular-Disney-ride-gets-character-infusion/ss/events/en/020609itsasmallworld

So apparently, Disney has decided to revamp "It's A Small World", its oldest attraction, one of historical significance, by repainting large portions of it and inserting random Disney characters into it. This is complete fucking blasphemy and it is appalling. I thought it was bad when Disney added random Johnny Depp bullshit into the Pirates of the Carribean ride, but this is just reprehensible.

I can't find any real information on it online, but luckily this may not actually be the original version of the ride. This and Walt Disney's other main attraction from the '64 World's Fair, the Carousel of Progress, were both put in Disneyland in 1966. However, the Carousel of Progress was moved to Disney World shortly after it opened and it's possible that the original "It's A Small World" was moved at that time as well. Neither Wikipedia, the first page of Google, nor Disney's theme park websites offer any insight as to where the original ride is located.

That's product placement supreme. The world doesn't revolve around Disney, but they'd fucking like to think so. Luckily, ESPN is still ok.

Maybe, but both Disney World and Disneyland have an "It's a Small World" ride. It would be weird for them to have made it, moved it, and rebuilt it in its original location.

I believe every Disney park has a version of the ride.

But you're right.

The ride sucked anyway, so maybe this would make it more interesting.

Although, I was always more of an Epcot guy anyway, so whatever.

Fuck Disney. They can suck my ass. I'm really pissed at Disney's low quality bullshit. Sure, they get the good actors, but never since the good ole days have they topped their animation. Now it's mass produced CG bullshit and the same storyline for every movie. What ever happened to the high quality 2D animation? Anyways, they can also suck balls for creating sequels to their adaptations of classic fairy tales like Cinderella, probably snow white and others like bambi too. Anyways, Disney can go blow a donkey and get kicked in the face after the ejac. FUCK DISNEY!!!!!

Edit: Oh we're talking about a ride? Okay then, Universal Studios. There. Fuck Disney.

Micheal Eisner shutdown Disney's 2-D animation studio in 2004.

Yes, but it's historic. And the cheesy dreadfulness is kind of appealing.

And Probable Muppet, Disney still makes 2D movies... they're all just direct to video.

Actually they have a new 2D animated movie for theaters in the works. It's called The Princess and the Frog and supposed to be released on Christmas this year.

After Eisner has stepped down.

Eisner was forced out of the company by angry shareholders led by Roy E. Disney, the son of Roy O. Disney, who was Walt Disney's brother and business partner. Disney criticized Eisner's mismanagement of the theme parks and ABC, as well as Eisner's complete disinterest with the animation division since the turn of the century. But his main point of contention was Eisner's antagonistic relationship with Pixar despite the fact that Pixar was making Disney a mint. Eisner was also responsible for losing Disney some of its young talent, most notably Hillary Duff, whose salary he repeatedly refused to increase.

In my book, that direct to video shit doesn't count, especially nowadays. Fuck Disney.

I used to absolutely love Dinsey as a kid. I even had this really unhealthy obsession with Disney when I was like 8. It actually wasn't that unhealthy but I was obsessed. Its kind of sad to see them going in the direction they have for the past several years since I used to love them as a kid. But most of it has been brought on themselves and I can't feel bad for them when they fuck up and make dumb decisions.

Before he dreamed up his theme parks, Walt's plan was to build a massive ski resort in Colorado. Unfortunately, the land he was eyeing became part of the national park system and the government opted not to sell it to him.

I read somewhere about Disney fanatics that get all booty hurt when Disney alters something that Walt created and how they've gotten multiple attractions and buildings sealed, I wonder how they're gonna take this revision of the ride in question. Confused

You beat me to it. Like we really needed a sequel to Cinderella or the Little Mermaid. Seriously? I mean, why ruin a classic tale with a bunch of bogus garbage? And while we're at it, how about they put an end to "The Land Before Time" series. That first movie came out when I was in Kindergarten.

I wouldn't be against them refreshing the ride, but not at the expense of the content. The mechanical and physical ride is really old. Repainting it and updating the props so that they use modern technology would be a good thing. But if you replace the message then the ride is a fucking loss.

I don't think it would be bad to expand the ride a little bit with newer and additional material.

No puppets though.

Speaking of the Land Before Time, I had a stuffed Little Foot as a kid. Razz

Later on as an angsty teen I scratched the color off the eyes so they were zombie white and hung him from a noose in my room, is that ok? Confused

I didn't read the entire thing but it mentions something about Walt's own country.

That would have been interesting since I live in Colorado and used to ski a lot as a kid.

I think that is an all right one to deny since everybody should be able to see that movie. I was lucky enough to see it at a small local theater back in 1991 when I was 11.
