I remember watching this as a kid and being so disgusted with it. However, as I sit here watching it tonight, I think I may have misjudged it. It may just be the nostalgia talking, what do you think about this flick? Also, I didn't remember Sir Ian Mckellen being in this, but apparently he plays the grim reaper, a very gay grim reaper.

I think it got panned because, it wasn't what people expected. Underneth the silliness, there is acually an intelligent plot, that makes some good points about fantasy vs reality.

I liked it then and I still like it now. It's more clever than people care to give it credit for, for some reason.

This was on last night on one of of the premium cable channels. Is that what got you thinking about it?

I actually watched it and enjoyed it again.

I think it is a great movie.

It's a decent film, and I enjoy it, but I feel like it was slow in parts and could have benefitted from an R rating. Arnold's movies are predicated on violence and the PG-13 rating effectively prevented it from parodying action movies as well as it could have. I also feel that it could have benefitted from the writing talents of Jim Abrahams and the Zucker brothers.

I suppose it could have been better if there were more R rated Bridgette Wilson scenes.

Benefitted is spelled right?

I believe the term is "benefat." Wink

I enjoyed the hell out of Last Action Hero. The PG-13 rating did water it down a little, but otherwise I think McTiernan and Ahnuld did a really fun job of parodying action films. Also, the rating did give us the amusing gag with Arnold not being able to say a swear word because of it.

In retrospect, it certainly is a lot better than a lot of other, crappier action films out there.

One of my favorite Arnold films. I don't turn the channel if I see it on. Makes some grat observations about movies and real life and is pretty interesting as a whole.

I think it would do better today than when it was originally released.

Benefit

Mistakes are often made with ‘benefit’. This happens because it is thought to be like ‘fit’, ‘fitted’ and ‘fitting’, but it is not, as the natural stress is not in the same place.

In fact, ‘benefit’ follows the standard rules exactly. It becomes just ‘benefiting/benefited’, because there is usually no doubling when the preceding vowel is unstressed.

Might be wrong, but I have always learned it with only one t.

Yup I think it was Encore. Anyways I met Arnold once when I was overseas, when he came over to shake our hands my friend yelled "Get to tha Choppa!" He looked at us like he had no idea what we were talking about. He knew....

I love Last Action Hero. But I do like Total Recall, Terminator 1&2, Running Man, Predator, Commando, and Twins all better. Well, maybe I like it better than Running Man. Not quite sure.
