Now you can stop constantly reminding us with the damn ads and those plates you rushed out to whore out the situation for money. Gah, I can see them continuing this for the next three months and I'm already tired of hearing it...

What I don't understand is why everybody thinks America is tolerant now. Did we forget about Prop 8 already?

EDIT: I wonder what would happen if somebody who wasn't black or white tried to run for president.

I always wondered what would happen if a Latino or Asian ran for president, I actually think there's more intolerance to Latinos these days than black people. At least, that's how it is around here....

Don't be silly. Alf has no political ambitions yet.

WHAT THE FUCK?!
Now apparently, Barrack is the BEST RELATIONSHIP GUY EVER?

...

And fisting? I am sure I would have seen the video if the president was fisting his wife in public.

WHAT THE FUCK?! Did I really just hear her say "fisting"? *shudders* Maybe that's what unhip news anchors are calling the "fist bump" that was a big deal (for some reason) a while back.

PS. This is the only good scene in the movie. This is also Motley Crue's only scene. This movie fucking sucks.

What movie is this from? I remember they showed it last time Syd and I saw them live, but I always assumed it was done for the tour.

I would argue that America is stil fairly divided by racial lines, and this election was equally divisive. Minorities voted in recorded numbers in this election, and there was a definite sense of "YAY! FIRST BLACK PRESIDENT!" once Obama locked up the nomination. A lot of people didn't know or care what Obama stood for, they just voted for him because he was black. The fact that he tried to make himself sound like Dr. King didn't hurt either.

Lol, I remember that after the last MLK day or something, he started using King's accent most of the time. I have also noticed that since the election wrapped up, he's mostly dropped it.

I have friends who claim to have voted for Obama only because he's black. That pisses me off, frankly. Don't get me wrong, it's great that we have a minority president, but only in the sense that it means that racial barriers have been weakened (though, like Syd said, this election may have only made the racial lines even more clear).

But to vote for someone simply because he or she is a minority undermines the whole idea of racial equality, in my opinion. It's the same thing as not voting for the other guy because he's white, which is straight out racism.

I also resent the fact that I've been called a racist simply because I didn't support Obama.

The fact that Obama is black has no effect, good or bad, on his policies.

QFT.

I agree about the collectible Obama shit. I saved some magazines and newspapers from when he won and from the inaugural day (mostly because I remember how cool it was when my mom showed me all of the political souvenirs she had saved from Nixon, Vietnam, etc), but I'm not gonna buy some ordinary coin or plate that some asshole slapped a sticker on. Seriously, look at those coins. They look like shit. I might consider an actual, minted commemorative coin, but not the cheap crap they're trying to push now.

I will be honest though, I mostly voted for Obama because I hated McCain's vice-president and the fact he's pushing over 70 years old didn't bold well either, and voting for a third party would be....well...I'll let Kang state the reason..."Go ahead! Throw your vote away! Muhahahahah!".

Hahaha, I recall seeing that Colbert Report when it was new. Also, I have seen that Montel endorsement separately on its own infomercial.

What kind of message does it send when our economy is as fucked as it is and this new administration is endorsing a bunch of wasteful, dumb shit, they think we should blow our money on.

Black, White, Yellow, Green, Blue, Orange, Red, Cyan... there are lots of colors. Who fucking cares.

It is done. He is the president for the next 4 years.

What people should be concerned with is that Obama & Co. are directly fixated on changing the way that the public and private faces of the United States do business. For better or worse, this is what we should all be discussing, not his skin tone.

Yes, but his skin tone is exactly why he may not be our president for the next 4 years. I hate to think he could be assassinated, but it is entirely possible. While racial issues may not be as prominent now as they were during the 50s and 60s, it's still there.

My fear is that this thought causes the people of this country fear. We have to go forwards and hope that the security around our president is adequate, that their intelligence is a step ahead, and that the president himself does not feel these fears.

That is the only way we can make progress in this country. The barrier is broken. He is our president, it is time to move on and see what our country can do under new leadership.

When I found out he was running for the Democratic vote, I researched everything he stood for, and I was pleased to see that I agreed with the majority and that I wouldn't root for him based strictly on the fact that he's black.

Of course I'm Canadian, so none of it matters anyway. But I've never seen so many people concerned about an election in my life.

You know we had an election a few months back? The entire announcing of the election (it was called early), the campaigning, and vote counting were done in TWO WEEKS. (It was the world's most pointless election ever, but that's another story).

Yeah, Canadian elections are messed up from what I've seen. It's more like a coup just to get a new prime minister.

So here's to you Mrs. Robinson. People love you more- oh, nevermind.

The last one happened because the PM was all pissy about having a minority gov't. So he called an early election so he wouldn't have to deal with one. What happened?

THE EXACT SAME FUCKING RESULT.
