So Saturday I went to Circuit City because I heard they're going out of business and I hoped to maybe get some good deals on video games or DVDs.
NOPE.
Not only did they have the same shitty prices they always do, but it was a fucking mobscene in there. Some stuff had 10% off stickers on it, but really, who cares? Ten fucking percent? So I can pay $53.99 (plus tax) for an XBox game instead of 59.99? BIG FUCKING DEAL.
Fuck you, Circuit City. I demand crazy awesome prices. I want seasons of Law and Order for $20, goddamit. Go bankrupt faster!

Yes. They're not in very many parts of the country though. Mostly California and Texas and points between. With a few other states thrown in for good measure.

Fry's is fucking awesome. They really have nothing like it on the East coast.
Problem is that there's about a 20% chance the stuff is defective and you need to exchange it.

I hater Circuit City personally. Prices are sucky, and customer service even sucker (at least at the two branches I have been in.)
I do most of my electronics buying at Best Buy, or like some of the other guys said, at Fry's if there's something a little more specialized I need.

Circuit City probably has some liquidation mogul keep their prices in the profitable range still. Don't expect huge drops until it's almost over.

I have rarely, if ever, conducted business with Circuit City only because Best Buy or some other store had what I was looking for for a bit cheaper than they were.
The only thing I have ever bought from a Circuit City wasn't even really with Circuit City to begin with, it was their local Warehouse Store (Surplus Store) and I got a sweet Sony Bravia 32" HDTV for $500, just because it was at the warehouse store and had been on display for two weeks. The other prices for 32" HDTV's were AT least a hundred dollars more, and after doing all of the shopping around possible (I went to every store that had HDTVs for sale), they had the best price.
It's just like Circuit City has become the Chiller's/Flinger's/Banger's (office space bland 90's restaurants) of the electronics market, and with a poor economy, people want what they can get for the cheapest, and its not going to be found at Circuit City.

I actually bought something at Circuit City on Saturday, although I could've found them for better prices. They had video games for 10% off; DVDs for 20% off. I bought Super Mario Galaxy and WrestleMania 24.
Gamestop had a used copy of Mario Galaxy for $44.99, and I could've used my card to get 10% off. I'm sure Wal-Mart had WM24 for a lower price than Circuit City's $24.99 tag.

Yeah, went in Saturday, guy says video games are 20% off so me and a buddy of mine are like...we'll pass (30% is probably about the tipping point for me to consider a game a "good deal"). Then his Dad goes in Sunday and gets a surround sound system for 30% off so we're like, "Damn, that was quick!?" and go back to get some good games. Problem was, they just posted a sign that read "30%*" with an obscure disclaimer at the bottom of "up to" and to our amazement games were now only 10% off as the first poster pointed out!
So Circuit City can pretty much suck it and all the R-tards paying full price plus are dumb asses b/c that's what CCity is essentially doing is raising prices to or above retail for the appearance of savings.

Yeah I just bought Sins of the Solar Empire, Far Cry 2, a new Blackberry and a few movies from Circuit City. Nnot too good of deals, but I am sure the prices will keep dropping every few days.
Edit: The one I went to here in Minneapolis had 20% off games.

I enjoyed the game even though it does get repetive, think a San Andreas type game but not as memorable but still solid in its own way.

Yeah I am playing it now, so far I like Crysis(same people that made Far Cry) better. Only been playing Far Cry 2 for about an hour though.

CompuUSA was the same way when it went out of business. The deals didn't get good until the last week they were open, and by then most of the good stuff was gone.

10% to start, 20% is right around the corner. They don't give a fuck... they do the best they can for a little while and clear shit out... but someone else is buying all the left overs.

I like Circuit City for one thing. Before Christmas I was shopping around for games I don't have, and the local Circuit City usually has them because, let's face it, no one fucking shops at Circuit City. I didn't find much, but I did find Trauma Center New Blood for Wii for $10.

Not only is that not right, that's not even wrong. It's a meaningless statement. Saying something is "one molecule away" from plastic is like saying a farm is one letter away from a fart. Water is "one molecule away" from being explosive hydrogen gas. |
