A few years ago, I bought Die Another Day, then discovered it was the fullscreen version.

If I order the WS version from Netflix and send back the FS version, what are the chances I'll get caught?

One time I pulled a fast one on Blockbuster by renting the Dreamcast version of Vigilante 8: Second Offense and sending back the PS1 version. I really don't know though, but I don't see how they could catch you when they could mistake it for employees being morons.

Someone will complain, but they will never be able to link it to you.

You could always say that it was what you received.

This doesn't change the fact that it is morally wrong and you will be cursed for the rest of your life over a small little thing.

Also Kirkpatrick here is going to punch you in the stomach.

I believe the most immediate thing they'll do is ask for you to send it back. Why not take the chance?

Isn't every rental they send you marked with a specific bar code? I use LoveFilm here in the UK, and that's the case with them. When they get the DVD back and scan it, the barcodes for the FS and WS versions won't match and they'll know something is up.

Exactly what I was thinking. Still it may be worth a shot. I hate Full Screen.

The DVD sleeve is marked with a barcode, not the disc itself.

Don't you feel the least bit guilty about this?

Being as I haven't actually done it, I have nothing to feel guilty about.

I'll rephrase then.

Won't you feel the least bit guilty about this?

Well, it's only a DVD. It's not like he's burning a bus with children trapped in it.

I've done stuff like this before. Not too long ago I bought a Wii lan adaptor to download VC games, after I got the games I wanted, I returned it the next day.

What do you mean?

It is the same exact thing.

Stealing widescreen versions of movies is the gateway crime to burning children on buses.

God... everyone knows that.

I suppose the children could take another hit for everyone's need of Bond films.

Think of it like this, surely someone, somewhere has sent back a WS version after getting a FS version so really, you might be doing them a favor. Think of it as balancing out the universe.

Does Netflix even offer FS video?

I don't know, I've never used it. Why do they offer a choice between WS and FS anyway? I don't know anyone that perfers FS.

Where's DarkMaze on this one, I'm sure he'd have a real reaming to give for stealing WS DVDs.

This probably isn't a great idea, thinking against it.

Fun Fact: When a movie goes out of print, Netflix pulls it from its rental list because they figure some collector somewhere down the road might snag it and never send it back.

You feel guilty going into a convenience store to only buy a lottery ticket, but you're fine with this? Besides, it's extremely easy for them to catch you doing this, so if you enjoy the Netflix service it's a pretty stupid idea.

This is a very good idea on their part. If a service like Gamefly was going to let me borrow MVC2 for the PS2, do you think they'd ever see it again?

back in the day, in 95 i think, my brother switched out "nba action '95" with our copy of "nba action '94" from the local video store, and we never got reported or called or anything. granted, we were probably the only people who rented that game, but whatev.

and worse thing that could happen syd, they email you or call you and let you know you returned the wrong copy, and just ask you to return the right one. it could be an honest mistake. same movie, just different versions of it. you have your sis, or your girl or someone who doesnt know about dvd's return them and they inserted the wrong copy into the envelope.

Define large some of money? I'm very interested in acquiring this game now that I have a PS2, but I'm not looking to pay $75+ for it.
