It's coming.

It's been nearly a month since we posted rumors that The Real Ghostbusters would be coming to DVD this fall, and now we have some great news to share; Time-Life, the company behind the awesome Get Smart and Man From UNCLE sets, will be responsible for The Real Ghostbusters collection coming in the fall.

Our source tells us this will be a massive 26-disc set covering both The Real Ghostbusters and Slimer! And the Real Ghostbusters, the 1988 renaming of the show. With a combined episode count of over 100 episodes, the 26 discs should have more than enough room for some great bonus material. Note: Many fans have written in to say that there are 140 episodes of the series. That's incorrect, and the number is a result of various episode guides listing 140 stories. Some of the episodes contain 2 stories, so the actual number of episodes is fewer than 140.

This set marks an exciting development: it's the first "complete series" release of an animated program from Time-Life, and it's one of the first times Sony has licensed product to another company. Ghostbusters fans are going to be kept busy soon: first the video game announcement for the fall, and now the animated series on DVD! We'll keep you updated as we get more information.

Hopefully it will be a success and encourage releases of other 80's shows that still aren't out on DVD. Hell, J. Michael Straczynski was one of the writers on the show, that should be reason enough to buy it.

The reason it is coming out is because of that video game! I wish the fans would stop saying: We did it! Our online bulletins worked!

It's like "Birds of Prey" on DVD. There's money to be made. It had nothing to do with fan requests.

Now, I'm not complaining about the DVD set. I am overcome with joy inside. I have dreamed of this day since FOX Family stopped airing reruns and thus ending the syndicated life of the show.

That was a different company so it won't be on this set. If this sells, maybe one day. Although I think Sony has to be the one to release that.

Awesome, I loved this cartoon and I had a ton of the figures from it along with the Ecto-1. Hell I even once had the toy proton pack with trap and meter. This set will be awesome, just wondering what the price will be.

Time Life has the complete series rather than buy them individually.

That's just for one volume, I saw that on Amazon earlier. I was wondering the price of the entire set.

I ordered early and saved some money. I forget how much it was total. It was like $100 though. If you wait, I bet you could get them cheaper.
