The Mario 2 ending was dumb...it was just a way to justify all the new enemies, the setting and other stuff that at the time was so not Mario. If I were Mario I'd be dreaming of banging Princess Toadstool since the only place that will actually happen is in his dreams anyway.

Why should they have to 'justify' the new enemies of Mario 2? There were enemies in Mario 3 that weren't in either Mario 1 or Mario 2, what exactly 'justified' them, hmm?

True but most of the enemies in Mario 3 ware offshoots of the Koopas or Goombas with the exception of a few others. They felt they had to come up with some ending that explained how stuff that at the time was not really part of the Mario universe got into it.

Four of my bullshit endings are on it!
I'll cede that maybe the StarTropics ending isn't so bad, but SMB2 and SMB3 are inexcusable inclusions on that list. |
Fixed.
Also, I read that this morning.

I think Syd hated the SMB2 ending so much, that he wanted to call it inexcusable times two.

I don't think it's a case of asshole-dom, I think it's more of a case of a bad sense of humor.

I don't have a signature. Sorry. Try again later.. probably not though. |

I looked at his fix and my original post 10 times and couldn't figure out what he fixed.

Blah, I'm sick of hearing people talk about Samus being a girl like it was some sort of revolutionary mind fuck. I mean, were people really shitting their pants over this? When I found out, I was like "Oh, ok then."

The guy says that the SMB2 ending was brilliant... It was a fucking dream! I guess he figured Dallas was a good soap opera because of the dream ending...

Well, it's just some random guy -- he doesn't even have other content on GameFAQs. Even talking about his list is giving him more credit than he deserves.
And by the half-assed nature of the "article" -- a couple of sentences for each entry, no pics, bad writing, and really vague, generic statements -- it's hard to take it seriously.

Yeah, that kind of thing pisses me off. If the list is about one specific console, you need only provide the titles.

SAMUS IS A GIRL?!?! |
In 1987 it was a big deal for the hero to actually be a heroin in a video game.

Can you make a THAT WAS A JOKE to go along with the other two? How about THIS COULD BE A JOKE IF IT WERE WRITTEN BETTER ?
It was never the fact that she was girl that wigged me and my friends out back in theday, but I knew a kid named Justin Baily who was a little freaked out at that password.

Interesting list. If I were to make my own I'm not sure where I'd put some of the best NES ones. Star Tropics is a game I've never actually beaten, but my cousin has when we played our accounts side by side. I think it would pass this ending test.
Ninja Gaiden? Hmmm... you're just happy there's no 8th level
The others seem pikced at random. Maniac Mansion was a good choice, a game still remembered today, though easily duplicated by today's standards. THEN it was unique, unusual, and innovative.
