Does anybody here have Animal Crossing: City Folk for the Wii? I'm asking you guys because I don't have any buddies on that game and I'm quite desperate for any online contact.
If any of you do have it, here's my info:

I was about to get this, but I opted for a 360 instead. I was planning on getting it for Christmas but I didn't, so I have no idea when I'll buy it.

Okay so here is the Animal Crossing in a nutshell. Its a lot like WoW, what with the endless mindless grinding for in this case cash and work simulator gameplay. But unlike WoW, they won't even go the extra step to disguise the gameplay as lets say killing dragons. Also, all of the social gameplay is pretty much cut out, as shown by Ky-Guy.
I'm gonna keep the spirit of Murdar Machene alive by very rightly calling it a game for fat dumpy idiot losers.

...Yes, clearly AC is a lot like WoW, they must have taken the idea from WoW directly.
...Except for the fact that AC was released in Japan in 2001, whereas WoW was not released until 2004. AC and WoW have about as much in common as a moose and a bumblebee. (No, that doesn't make sense, but neither did RobotGumshoe for even trying to compare AC and WoW in the first place.) AC and WoW are entirely different genres meant to appeal to entirely different subsets of gamers. AC is a game about daily life, not an action game, not an adventure game. If you can't understand that, then fine, fuck off. It doesn't need its gameplay to be 'disguised', because it's not that kind of game. Do you go around killing dragons to earn your paycheck? I'm also really curious what this 'work simulator' gameplay you mention is, aside from the part time job you have at the beginning that functions as the game's tutorial, your character doesn't hold down a job. The social aspect is only slowly growing as Nintendo has yet to realize, Hey, online gameplay is a good thing, we should make it easier for people to connect to each other! If Nintendo had as good of an online setup as Xbox Live is, then the social aspect would be a lot bigger.
I had also asked for AC for Christmas, but didn't get it. I plan to get it fairly soon, I'll give you my name and whatnot when I do, Ky-Guy.

Well, I have it, I didn't want it, but my sister got it. I'll probably make a guy just cuz of friends on the forums. I'll be Thatguy in Kurain. Look, my sister named the town.
Edit: Too bad my WiFi has been dead for half a year.

I can't get into Animal Crossing. I liked the first one, cuz you could unlock random NES games, but after they took those out, I lost interest.
And I'll be the first one to tell you that graphics aren't everything, but Animal Crossing is fucking hideous to look at.

I don't see why everyone is so pissed off about this game. It might not be your thing, but I think it's a fairly fun game., and I don't get the comparison to WoW either.

Ho-Hum, you missed the point.
WoW and Animal Crossing are work simulators because they are simple repetative games without a real story, competative or co-operative elements, or the need for skill, stratagy, or decision making. They deliver what can only be described as an illusion of real gameplay by exploiting the human need for achievement or progress.
WoW is a profoundly boring game with no skill or brains needed, but has a few things going for it. One, the setting allows for a more satisfactory illusion. For example, I don't have to pay fifty bucks to pretend that I have to pay off a morgage. I could very well do that in real life, while on the other hand I couldn't slay an ancient black wyrm in her volcano lair with my mountain shattering dwarven greataxe. WoW also has the raids over it, and while I think they're flawed, its still manages to compensate somewhat for a mindnumbingly bland single player gameplay by having to corral 30 people into working like a well oiled machine. Animal Crossing is sad and lonely in comparision.
Don't waste your time with games that don't show you something new, that don't fill you with feelings other than dulled satiation or oppresive menial duty, that don't ask you to get any better, that don't allow you to create a shared dialogue with someone else through mutual experience.
You've been decieved, and you can do better than that.

Yeah...I don't see how AC is a work simulator. Sure, there is the part of the game where you sell fruit to buy shit, but most of the game is focused on talking with people in your town, and decorating your house. Sure, you need money to buy shit, but it doesn't take alot of time to get a significant amount of cash, so I would hardly call it "work"

QFT RobotGumshoe, I hadn't really started a game yet, so I did after my earlier post. I went and answered a bunch of pointless questions, got off the bus and ran around a bit. Then I said to myself, "I'm playing Animal Crossing! I promptly dropped the wii remote and watched some On Demand Science Cha... On Demand Boobs and Explosions Channel.

Different people enjoy different things. I enjoy Animal Crossing, you clearly don't. Anything further I could say won't mean anything to you, and the same from you to me.

I was able to pick up the game yesterday, started playing it today. I took the option of transferring my town from the DS... but I'm still not entirely sure what that did for me, other than giving me the same name, eyes, and haircut I had there. I was really hoping all my furniture and other items would be transferred...

I have it for the gamecube and DS. I haven't even beaten the game for the DS yet.
But I should be getting it for Wii soon. 3 versions of the same game? Hell yeah! Sign me up. I already have 6 different Harvest Moons set in Mineral Town. Hopefully they'll pop out more AC so I can own the same game 5 times!
