this is mostly for this trailer im about to post, but i figured it would devolve into a general star wars thread, just like all the other star wars threads here.

Star Wars: Uncut trailer shows off crowdsourced remake
A trailer for Star Wars: Uncut, the huge crowdsourced re-imagining of George Lucas’s 1977 sci-fi classic Star Wars: A New Hope, has been released.
The enormous project is the brainchild of one Casey Pugh. He has divided the film up into 2,161 separate 15-second scenes, and asked web users to choose one to shoot.
The fans then have 30 days to film the scene, in whatever fashion they like. Stop-motion, live action and computer animation are all on display in the trailer; Mr Pugh says “the more creative, the better”, and suggests flipbooks and animated ASCII art as possibilities.
He hopes to have the film completed by December. The trailer claims that it is the "biggest fan recreation in the universe".
Of the 2,161 scenes, 417 have already been completed. A further 1,580 have been commissioned and are being made, and just 164 are free.
Excitingly, several people are allowed to make different versions of the same scene, so viewers can watch a different crowdsourced Star Wars every time.
Mr Pugh says that there will eventually be a rating system, so that viewers can choose their favorite scene-by-scene remakes.
All of the so-far-created scenes can be watched at the Star Wars Uncut website.

So yet another "rerelease" with new shit? I know not technically, but is this film maker going to spend the next 30 years trying to rape a franchise that has already been gaping more than a 15 year old Cambodian prostitute.
Yeah...no thanks. I liked Star Wars as a kid and teenager, but when I hear someone else talk about the films, they act like they're the all out end all best films of all time. And what I find remarkable, was growing up, Indiana Jones was fresher in a lot of people's minds during the late 80's and early 90's and wasn't until 1995 with the release of the films again on video, then the special edition that they got incredibly popular again. And I know he's not directly responsible this time, but Lucas seems to try to keep putting out edition after edition since he's got nothing else really going on. The only other guy I recall being obsessed with redoing his work is Cecil B. DeMille and even he isn't as narcisistic as Lucas.

Gotta love fan dedication. That said, I can never watch the final product. But good for them!

To talk about another area of the SW universe, what the hell is taking the show so long?

LOL: Drunk Ewoks Ruin Today Show Halloween Segment
A Today Show Halloween decorating segment was interrupted by a pair of scene stealing Ewoks, who began throwing food, fighting each other, doing the moonwalk, and humping both the floor and the leg of Al Roker, who was dressed as Han Solo. I know it might sound like I’m describing a FunnyOrDie parody or something, but it actually happened on live television
There have been accusations that the little people in the suits were actually drunk before the segment began. At one point, one of the Ewoks tried to drink one of the alcoholic Halloween-themed beverages, and was scolded by Ann Curry (dressed as a mask-less Darth Vader), ”You’re not allowed to have vodka!” The video is embedded after the jump. The madness begins around the 2 minute mark.
their embed code is fucked up, so i couldnt add the vid

1977 Star Wars Computer Graphics
The interestingly named 'Topless Robot' has a real trip down memory lane: how the computer graphics of the original Star Wars movie were made. The article points to this YouTube video of a short documentary made by Larry Cuba, the original artist, that explains how he did it. In 1977."
To talk about another area of the SW universe, what the hell is taking the show so long?
The collective will of every fan in the galaxy.
The only way Star Wars properties are good is when they are done by fairly independent groups who are themselves hardcore fans of the series. Anytime Lucas dips his ham-fisted claw in to the creative well that is The Wars it comes up Clone Wars (3D, the 2D one having been done by some college kids and being super sexy cool.)
And quite simply TV is not a good medium for Star Wars. Commercial breaks do not an interesting experience make.

Man, it's so easy to forget how primitive computers were and how tedious they were to work with, even 20 years ago, let alone 30.
