So here's what's known about Guitar Hero: Metallica Edition

* Expert Plus mode: A drum mode that lets you play drums like in the record, just like Lars. Requires a splitter and two bass drum paddles. Scorable, but doesn't count toward World Tour online leaderboards.

* DVD-style Content: photos, set lists, fanclub videos, rare live and behind-the-scenes performances.

* New studio tunes: It'll include the GHTunes studo mode from World Tour, with the addition of guitar/bass sounds from James' ESP Truckster and Tom Araya's (Slayer) ESP bass.

* Drum Fill cheat: Turns the drum track off for free play with a song.

* Metallifacts; "Pop-up video" during playbacks.

And now for the actual (and incomplete) tracklist:
==========================================
Enter Sandman
For Whom the Bell Tolls
Fuel
Hit the Lights
King Nothing
Master of Puppets
No Leaf Clowns
Nothing Else Matters
Sad But True
The Unforgiven
Wherever I May Roam

The non-Metallica stuff
"No Excuses" Alice in Chains
"Turn the Page" Bob Seger
"Hell Bent for Leather" Judas Priest
"Demon Cleaner" Kyuss
"Thurday's Gone" Lynyrd Skynrd
"Blood and Thunder" Mastodon
"Armed and Ready" Michael Schenker Group
"Mother of Mercy Samhain
"Black River" The Sword

To Be Added
Foo Fighters (meh)
Slayer
Queen

Well, I bet we can all guess what the Queen track will be.

Looks lukewarm at best...And I didn't care much for your "meh" response to the Foo Fighters, Dave Grohl is a legend.

Yeah, but Metallica is motherfucking metal and when you've got a tracklisting that includes Kyuss, Mastadon, and MSG, Foo Fighters seems a like a weak choice. They have some heavier stuff, but imagine how gay it would be if some wimpy pussy song like "Learn To Fly" ended up in the game. Instead of Foo Fighters, I'd rather have a track from Probot.

Valid points, but your right, Foo Fighters do have some heavier shit. They should pick on of those songs, and yes "learn to fly" is real gay, however I think some of their recent singles have been even less desirable.

Part of my distaste for Foo Fighters come from the incredibly massive overplaying of "Learn to Fly" I'm sure if I heard enough of their heavier stuff my opinion would be swayed. I was kind of surprised and glad to see something by The Sword on this.

I'm not impressed yet. I realize this is an incomplete list, but I think they need at least twice as many songs as this. Besides, I'm still wating for Guitar Hero: Foghat to come out.

Michael Schenker? Fuck, give that guy his own GH. Can you imagine how kick ass that would be?

I would say the same for Reb Beach. Both of those guys can rip it up!

It's always a good idea to condemn an entire band's extensive song list based on one mainstream-ish song that was overplayed, especially one like the Foo Fighters who have been going strong for over 10 years now. It's not like we haven't heard Enter Sandman played ad nausem or anything.

I agree with your point, but I think it's a little unfair to compare a song that's actually good to "Learn To Fly".

10:1 they pick "My Hero" for the game, which would be pretty awesome.

Honestly, I won't be happy until they put a Queensryche song on a Guitar Hero or Rock Band. Just as long as the song isn't Silent Lucidity. If it is, I will bomb Harmonix and/or RedOctane. Not that I hate the song or anything, it's a good song, but I hate that it's the song that they're known for. I have five different compilation albums that have that song on it (Jet City Woman would've been a MUCH better choice for Monster Ballads). Am I the only one who finds it kinda wrong that a metal band is most well known for one of their soft songs?
