So, I am a huge fan of everything Tecmo football. So, I finally found a copy of this brand new game and I wanted to state my opinion on it.

It's essentially a mix of Tecmo Bowl and Tecmo Super Bowl for DS. They have no license, but they use the city names. You actually have the ability to change pretty much everything from names to player abilities (cant max them out) on every team, so I just named the teams after high schools in my area. It plays like a classic Tecmo Bowl game, but they never addressed the defensive players being WAY faster than you after you catch it.

The translation on this game is miserable. I hope they intended on having the player change the names, because I dont know how much I am in love with the "LA Nagwhars" (no joke), "Washington Volcanics", "Minnesota Yetis" (thats not even grammatically correct, i think), "Cleveland T-rexes". The game play plays just like a graphically upgraded TSB, but the speed of the players overall is a little slow. And when you fumble out of bounds near the upper sideline (bottom DS screen), the computer can recover even though they are clearly out of bounds. But, when you are kicking field goals, they have a bar that helps you show you where the field goal is, unlike on the other ones where you have no idea about the relationship between the arrow and the posts.

Overall, this game is meh. But its a Tecmo Bowl game, and its fun. Pick it up used if you can find it, but dont believe the "Random IGN guy" review of it saying it is miserable. If you are an 8 year old with ADD, youll hate it. But, if your a 21 year old lethargic college student who loves the old games, its okay. Good for a roadtrip.

In case you were wondering.

TB: Kickoff is awesome, but I hate the fact that it was based on just the classic's design as opposed to a mix of the classics and the last game, TSB3: Final Edition for the SNES, which would've made it even greater.

I like that there's more cinematic scenes when you throw passes and such though.

I will need to check this out. I am a huge fan of Tecmo Bowl. In fact my Fantasy Football team name has been Super Tecmo Bowl for the past 3 years and running.

Yeah, it does make a great effort to have cool little videos when your player does his skill thing (you can equip your players with special moves (double juke, speed burst, speed throw, etc)) that use both screens. The music is a little irritating, but it works.
