This may belong in the OPP forum, but I'm putting it in here for now, because General discussion get's more traffic, so I may be more likely to get an answer... A while back I posted this in OPP:
My question is, does anyone know of a website where I can host my music, but not make it a forced download like this. I want the actual songs to be able to be linked or embeded without people having to go to the trouble of actually downloading it.

I was looking around for some free web hosting earlier in the year, and found one. I used to use 1and1.com which gave me kick-fucking-ass webhosting with huge space and bandwidth allowances free for 3 years but that ran out.
I found www.byethost.com and the allowances aren't bad. 250mb webspace, 6gigs/mo bandwidth. Your URL will be whatever.byethost.com, it has a control panel, php/mysql, pop3 mail server etc. Not that that matters. It'll host your files fine, through ftp.
http://byethost.com/index.php/free-hosting
You'll just have to make an html file with the code to link to the files you'll upload.

I should Look into bytehost. I'm not satisfied with google pages since they dropped it and are moving to google sites. 250mb? All that for free? Sweet. I might sign up.
Edit: Scratch that, i don't trust any place that doesn't let me make a password longer than 8 characters.

If it's only for music, try box.net.
You basically upload all your stuff and it creates one flash applet that allows you to play all songs.

You should totally check out the IRC channel.
While you're at it, go check out my band, Her Majesty's Heroines.

2GB Free - http://www.getdropbox.com
It works like a file storage place, but you can set it up to have your files shared on the net. You don't get a URL, but you don't need one.

Thanks for the help fellas.
GP, thanks. The URL is not important, I just needed to embed the files so friends of mine, or whomever I choose can listen to my music without downloading it. If I ever decide to put a website with my art and or music, I'll probably just go with GoDaddy.

Yeah... definitely try Drop Box. I have been using it since it was in Beta and it is perfect for you. On your end, you just drag the files into a folder. On their end, you give them a URL and then it always stays up to date depending upon the files you push to it. Its really nice.

Yeah, I thought about that, but it limits you to 6 songs and I didn't really want to bother with making another myspace. Also, I initially didn't want the additional random traffic you get on myspace because I'm much more insecure with my music than my art, but thinking about it, I don't really care that much anymore. It's just a hobby, not my profession.
