So apparently, the Double Dragon franchise was briefly revived on the GBA five years back and those who played it were not disappointed, to say the least. Obviously, the game fell under my radar until recently. Anyone here play it?

Sadly, no. I played the other Technos revival from that era, River City Ransom EX, and that was fairly terrible.

Super Dodgeball Brawlers for the DS had me excited, but it got terrible reviews.

If you're expecting a port of the home version, you're going to be disappointed. That's all I have to say.

You should totally check out the IRC channel.
While you're at it, go check out my band, Her Majesty's Heroines.

Is this double dragon closer to the arcade version? I hated the NES port of DD. The SMS version was spot on though.

Are you kidding me? That game looked all kinds of awesome. Now I'm sad.

I've got the Double Dragon game for GBA, I thought it was awesome. There's a ton of moves in it and it's pretty damn hard. Check it out if you can find it.

I found River City Ransom EX to be basically River City Ransom with improved graphics. Although they made a fatal mistake by having no form of multiplayer whatsoever.

Double Dragon Advance is one of the best beat 'em ups on the GBA, 'nuff said.

I found no problems with RCR EX. I don't play it with 2 players anyway.

Super Dodgeball Brawlers is.. OK I guess. It adds some intresting things into the mix (throwing stuff at each other and fighting), but for the most part it gets boring quicker than usual.

anyne play gunstar super heroes or guardian heroes advance on the GBA? I was curious to try them, considering the originals were two of my favorite games.

RCR EX is pretty good, but in no way is it better than the original; the EX version is simply too easy. There are more items that boost your stats way too much, and if you get the Bike Kick move, the entire game becomes a complete breeze.

Gunstar super heroes was not very good. The boss solution was "Spam super till it dies".

Instead I recommend the astro boy game they put on the GBA.

Did RCR EX even have co-op?

The main problems with were:

1) easier stat boosts and cheaper items
2) still uses a fucking password system
3) a retarded AI partner who will accidentally beat the shit out of you early on and who is far too weak to be useful later on
