We all know what Binary is. There are people who think that every letter, every word could be translated into binary. So, in support of the theroy, here is Marc Antony's speech from Shakespere's Ceasar:

10110101001 10101 010101 101110001010 101010 10100101101 01 101101 101010101 101 101 01101010 1010 1010101 101010100001010 100000101011111110 10 10101 011111111 010 101 010101010100001011000111 011010101 0110101 011010101 10101000000011111111100000000 10101 010110 1101111010100000000000000000001010111111111111111111111111111111111111111111110101010 101010 1010 101 0110 101 10101 010001 0110 1101 1101 10101 01100101010110101 011 01 10 1010010 1010 10 101 01 0101 01 1001 1010 10100101001010 1001 01 10 101010010010101 1010 10 101 01010 10 0100101010 10101111011 101110101 1010101 011 0110101 01 101010101 0101 000001111010100000001010 10 101 010101 01 100 0 0000001 1 1 1 1001 01 10 10 1010 10 10 101 01 00101 10 010101010 10 101 1010

Why do I always get the feeling that people write something dirty in those messages?

I remembered Marc Anthony's speech as something more impressive than "µ5V⪥µ[ZªP¨+ú«ýUT,v«V@À*¶õÿÿÿÿÿꪪ֨¶íYV©UUf©J–©+UT•W»VÕª¨=@UU`–ªªYUZ"

I figured as much when I saw this part of it, "0000001 1 1 1 1001," because it didn't make sense that 3 of the same character or symbol were together.

There are 10 types of people in the world. People who can't read binary, and people without a life.

So here's to you Mrs. Robinson. People love you more- oh, nevermind.

Sigh. I knew that binary was fake right away. Does that mean I don't have a life?

Binary is actually pretty easy.

Each digit represents another power of two, just like in decimal, where each digit represents a power of 10.

Let's say we have an eight-digit block like 10110101 - what do you do with that?

Well, if a digit's a one, you add it to the total. There is only one value for each place, and from the right they go: 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128 and so on.

10110101 means: add 1, skip 2, add 4, skip 8, add 16, add 32, skip 64, add 128. You get: 239.

Hope that's not complicated.

You should totally check out the IRC channel.
While you're at it, go check out my band, Her Majesty's Heroines.

You deal with binary operations a lot when looking through assembly code. My first experience with the, I suppose, "essence" of binary was when I figured out the Metal Gear password system when I was younger. I knew of binary, but I didn't know it well enough to relate it to the essential use of powers of 2 as switches within the context of one number. I first noticed it when I died after getting the Binoculars, and the password was almost the same except for 2 characters, one in the middle and the checksum, which I figured out, but didn't know of the term "checksum" until a few years ago.

Those were fun times.
