I tried it. The game is freaking awesome. Almost made me pick up parkour again.
That is, you know, if my ass wouldn't still be busted from that accident a few years ago.

I've been contemplating on dl'ing it. The game looks like I might just throw up from playing it but it's gotta be fun. The commercial makes me think of Assain's Creed only in the future.

I'm looking forward to it, but its popularity makes me sad about the gaming community. Look at your average board, and most of the topics will either be "Faith is hot", "Faith is ugly", or "I want to shoot more."

This game, just by looking at the commercial, looks like it's going to kick about 500 different kinds of ass.
If someone plays the full version, let me know how it is, so I know whether to buy it or not.

The notion of being able to win without firing a shot is very appealing to me. Don't have a system that can run it though.

It's on PC and 360 aswell. Personally, I think it's one of the best games of the year. Only three have gotten the title of one of the best games of the year. Those are Dead Space, Fallout 3 (Without the Shitty Ending), and Mirror's Edge.

Yeah I picked up gears 2 for the hell of it and I didn't expect to like it much. It's pretty kick ass, however, the WoW expansion just came out. Most likely I won't play it again for weeks.

Gears of War was never my forte. Like really, if you want me to play a Third Person Shooter, and I had a choice between Gears 2 and Oni or another TPS, I'd probally choose Oni. It's just alot of fun playing Oni. I'm not saying Gears and it's sequel are bad games, I'm just not a super fan of the series.

Your ass was saved from an outrage by GoW fans by remembering an awesome game. Oni needs a sequel or a remake, BADLY.

I just DL'ed and beat the demo of Mirrors Edge... here's my opinion
Personally I would wait for it to go down into price because it seems like it's running off of the Source Engine, but overall it's kinda sexy playing it. The one connection for the game to anything else I can think of is the Matrix. Primarialy running around on Rooftops, hitting a door open while avoiding cops and the Melee combat seems a tad like a Matrix scene, minus the Robots and Agents. But one thing matrixy is the voice on the other end of the line. It's sorta like an operator, only the voice is your employer who is guiding you through the game. I think it might end up with a cliched betrayal or something to that extenet. Another is a bullet time like experience when you press Square. Obviously it's meant to slow down the pace of the game, so you can time your jumps better and counter faster so it's a nice little add in. The one thing is that an objective or a good path is highlighted in red throughout the levels, so all you really need to do is run for what is red and take a guess as to where you are supposed to go from there.
Graphic wise, it's like I said, a source like engine that is trying to be Cell-Shaded like. At first I thought it was a cartoon, but that was only during the opening cut scene. When you start playing it you only focus on your immediate surroundings and that's where I feel like I'm playing Either TF2 or a Simpson map on CS:S. But that's not nescessarily a bad thing. While it hurts the eyes once and awhile, you can play it because the missions feel both fluid and quick.
The Sound, I never really paid attention to the Music, I was more involved with the action and leaps of faith, which is no pun intended since Faith is the girls name in the game.
Overall, I don't know... It's one of those games that it's hard to explain, it's hard to hate, hard to love... just overall a different type of experience so far... can't wait to see the final product, at least once it's down in price.

I've been following this game for a little while, it looks completely badass and I was originally planning on buying it...until I discovered that it's only like 8-10 hours long. In my opinion, that doesn't warrant a sixty dollar purchase, but I'm definitely renting this as soon as it comes out.

I think what I really liked about it is that it's something different than all of those WWII shooters taht have been over saturating the FPS genre for years.
and on the subject of oni, it was a ton of fun, but the controls kind of irked me, but if I remember properly, it was a launch title, or close to it, so it's okay.
and horde has been taking up my entire life since gears came out. I almost called out of work to play it.

I agree with you there about the WWII shooters that have been killing the FPS genre, so I can agree with you there about the change of pace. Still though I think that people will probably disregard this game since it's more "artsy" then it is as a shooting game... Like I said, it would be better when the game goes down in price

it irks me when a game begins to come out once a year, and it's the same game with a minor twist, and people eat it up. need for speed is guilty of this as well.

The last good NFS was Underground. The first one.
After that it just got dumb.

People always say "too many WWII shooters" is killing the genre, but where are the people who complain about too many medieval RTS's or animal mascot platformers. It's not the setting as much as the mechanics and atmosphere that make a genre stale. This game is such a breath of air because it tosses out testerone-fueled dumbasses saying catchphrases before a kill in favor of a game that relies upon a feeling and atmosphere as well as oft-used play mechanics. When you're being chased over skyscrapers and through buildings by police, making acrobatic running moves and using your surroundings to your advantage, it creates a hectic atmosphere that feels great once you're finished, but still pulling you into the game,

this is true, but honestly after a yearly call of duty game, a yearly brother's in arms, a yearly medal of honor, and god only knows how many one shot knockoffs, there really isn't much tolerance. this happened when GTA got big again, and there were tons of sandbox games. they're all the same game, jsut with different obkectives, and slightly different mechanics and features.
the only need for speed that I really liked (aside from the original on PSX) was most wanted.
