Watched the debut last night, pretty damn good.

DAG's opening rant about hip hop being dead was awesome.

I don't enjoy David Alan Grier as an entertainer.

This could have worked with a better host.

Wow, I have got nothing against black humor as whats his face so elequantly put it, but the show just flat out does not work no matter what color palette you dip into.

I can see it being just like Chappelles Show. Fun when your stoned as a goddamn bat, but when you watch it sober your sort of cringe and feel embarrased that you laughed at such lowbrow humor.

I felt like Chappelle made his show for fun. In contrast I feel like Chocolate News is designed to fill the void that Chappelle's show left empty. It feels forced.

They're just trying to throw whatever to get our demographic back. I did think the first ep was funny though.

I didn't want to watch it because of the commercials. Modern racial humorists should all be dragged into Times Square and shot on national TV. It's fucking old.

Aaron McGruder is a fantastic writer. The show was pretty good but the strips were just fantastic.
And it wasn't "Black People are Awesome, White People Suck" it was more of "All you people are nuts. Grow up and read DAMMIT!"

Seconded. He was funny back on Living Color, but as a solo comedian, he's always kinda freaked me out.

Thank you, I really can't stand Mencia Chocolate news seems a little better but not by much. It's just silly really

I figured since it wasn't aired on CN that it wasn't released on the DVDs. I'll have to check that out.

Getting back on topic, anyone think they'll make a nod to (or steal) Ollie Jenkins (Black weatherguy on Familu Guy) in at least one sketch?

If they do, I'll never watch the show again.

I saw the first episode and it wasn't too bad. I wouldn't mind seeing another episode, though the previews showing tits popping out don't give it too much credit. Debra Wilson permanently ruined the tit-exposure as a comedic tactic in most contexts.
