Fuck this. I know that the show's hook is having different actors take over the role every few years, but David Tennant is awesome and I'm going to stop caring when he leaves.

Tennant was a fantastic Doctor and it would have been great to have him play the role for a couple more years. Smith will have a hard time following in his footsteps. But a lot of people were skeptical of Tennant when he was announced as Eccleston's successor and look how that turned out: Tennant is now considered one of the best Doctors of all time. So let's just wait till Christmas when we see the new guy and enjoy the remaining four Tennant specials this year.

That being said I'm also a little disappointed with the choice. Out of the three actors that were in the running, I really wanted Chiwetel Ejiofor to get the role. He's been great in everything that I've seen him in and he already has major sci-fi cred with his roles in Serenity and Children of Men. But hey, the next regeneration is sure to come. I still might get my Doctor.

I watched the show for the first three seasons, but I found the first few episodes of season 4 to be simply disappointing and stopped there. Although I absolutely loved David Tennant, he couldnt save the show for me. I hope for the sake of the fans that Matt Smith fills the huge boots of Tennant.

I used to watch this show on Public Television quite a bit when all they played was Doctor Who (1963-1989 Episodes), Red Dwarf, Fantastic Planet and The prisoner over and over and over again. I despise Doctor Who. I tried watching a few episodes of the new one, it's just how can I say, really really really ^N bad. I just don't get it maybe.

I'm a little weirded out by this trend of making The Doctor younger and younger. But, that being said, they wouldn't have hired Smith if he couldn't do the role justice. I'm looking forward to what's in store.

Also, having different actors play him isn't really the "hook"; it's just what allows the show to keep going. Tennant wasn't kicked out, he chose to leave the show.

Which reminds me... when will he become The Valeyard?

You know, from Trial of a Time Lord?

...

Anyone?
