The only time I ever remember being excited about Columbus Day was years back when Cartoon Network would have a kickass marathon of some sort. That's the only decent thing I've ever associated with Columbus Day. Oh, getting the extended weekend off from school too, but that extra time was mainly filled in by the marathon.

You got off from school? damn! I mean, I'm at home now because I as coughing my guts out all over the floor, but still! And besides, I'm not missing schoolwork, I'm missing a trip to the aquarium. Not that I care... but still.

Yea, we always had a 4-day weekend around Columbus Day. The Friday may have been a Superintendent's Day or something, but it was 4 days off regardless.
