Yea, driving seemed like it would be more fun when I was younger... like 8. I had "traffic" toys and would set up intersections and "practice." Ha. I got a permit when I was 17... I had about 3 hours of driving time. I'm so neurotic behind the wheel. Fuck, I'm neurotic in the backseat, always calculating contingencies for potential accidents and whatnot.
I've sort of given up learning to drive... at least until I get my own car... I guess.

I got my learner's permit when I was 15. I got my license when I was 16.

I'm 23 now, and I've only had one major accident (which wasn't my fault ).

Oh jeez. Um, let's see. Imagine a 4-way intersection. I had a green arrow and was turning left (west, we'll say) and the guy was coming from the opposite direction (from the north). He apparently didn't see me? Or didn't realize the light had changed? With how fast he was going, I assume the light had turned red and he gunned it to run the light. Anyway, he hit the front passenger side of my car and hit it so hard that he set me in a 180; his car actually went under mine, so the entire front end of his camero was completely fucked up.

I was pretty messed up from the crash, but the paramedics told me my seatbelt saved me; without it I would've more or less eaten the steering wheel and would've been decapitated. I had bruising from the seatbelt all across my chest in a perfect line, as well as bruising on my knees where they hit the steering column in my car.

Mom and dad took the insurance money from that car (as it was totaled out) and bought me a new one as my high school graduation present (well, a new used car ).

I never got a learners permit because they didn't exist when I started driving.
I got my license when I was 16 which was 12 years ago and I have been in a few 'incidents' so to speak.

Ever have your breaks fail on you? It sucks. It has happened to me twice.

My sister and I did a total of $24,000 worth of damage to our car. Granted the two accidents I was in were due to break failure. Her accident was due to pulling out and being hit by a speeding driver (that's what she says at least). Either way, the car was valued at $26,000. We spent a total of $750 on the insurance deductible during the years when we owned that car, and turned it in at the end of the lease with no penalties.

We have a REALLY good repair guy. His nickname is "Johny Bondo".

Now looking back, even though those accidents were not my fault, I still think the minimum driving age should be increased. I did more stupid shit in a car prior to 22 years old than I will probably do in the rest of my entire life.

And hacker, if you drive like you act on these forums, we are all fucked.

I have severe crippling road rage, so I hate driving. I swear, everyone on the road is stupid except me.
I'll drop about 60 f-bombs on a 3-minute ride to the gas station.

I was so happy to get my license. I can still say at 28 I love driving as long as the traffic isn't bad. I mean who likes traffic. It was a good as I always thought. Granted the costs that go along with it suck, but hey you have to pay to play.

I am sure that you can read a book or something on the subject now.

Don't be so eager to drive, instead learn to leech rides from friends and let them spend all their money on gas and upkeep.

Bad idea. It WILL come back to haunt you. Once you do get your license you will be driving bitch for at least a year.

lol.....that takes me back. My friend had a beat to shit pickup truck, and we used to pile like 10 guys into it and ride to school in the mornings. The parking lot teachers didn't approve of us riding in the bed, but fuck'em.

Before you ask, Gish, I'm sick, that's why I'm not in school. I mean, sure, it's already six PM over here, but I have a good excuse for spending the whole day listening to AC/DC. I'm SICK.

AC/DC doesn't require an excuse.

Polluting the forums does, and hacker is guilty of that frequently enough that I am guessing he is home schooled.

The driving system in BC sucks the balls of at least three breeds of dog.
You get your 'L' license at 16, after passing the written test. You must have a passenger who is over 25 and has their full license. You can also have one more passenger. You also get this ugly ass bright fucking red magnet with a big fucking L on it that you must display on your car.

After a year of that bullshit, you can take a road test for your 'N' test. You can then have one passenger, or fill the car if one passenger is over 25 and fully licensed. You get an ugly ass green N magnet.

Two years later, you can take another road test to get your full license. So in BC, assuming you take all tests as soon as possible, you can be fully licensed at 19.

I've failed the L test twice, and passed it twice, and I've failed the N test three times. But with gas as it is, I've been starting a passionate love affair with Greyhound.

Congrats, dude. I didn't take my car to college, so I haven't really driven since I got to San Antonio in late September. I miss it, but I don't miss taking a beating at the pump.

I hear you. Living near Austin, I was subjected to some of the stupidest drivers this side of the Rio Grande. There's been so many times that I've almost been killed, or seriously injured. Admittedly, I'm a pretty bad driver, so I've ALMOST caused my fair share of accidents. Never been in one, though. I did back into my neighbor's car, though. There was also the time I backed out of my garage and caught my bumper on the side of the garage wall, tearing it off. Me and my dad fixed it in two hours, but it still sucked.
