It's true, he smoked the shit outta those things. Then I got bombarded with some ridiculous fake advertisements and shit about workouts and nanomachines or something.

Then you start the game, watch a cutscene, walk 5 feet, watch another 5 minute cutscene, walk 5 feet, watch another cutscene, walk 5 feet, watch another cutscene, lose a battle against a bunch of guys because I forgot I wasn't playing CoD4, get annoyed with the death sequence radio gibber shit because it goes on for too long, etc.

Great game!

I like how you can customize your gun setup. I just got to South America, and there's finally a desert eagle available.

Oh yeah, and there's a 1,000,000 dollar flintlock rifle, I gotta get that.

Could someone hurry up and beat the game, and then PM with all the answers to all the questions from the last 3 games! I'm dying to know the story, but not enough to shell out $460 to get it.

I'm working on it.

Some tidbits so far:

-Meryl is actually Colonel's daughter

-Jack aka Raiden fell off the face of the earth and Campbell married his fiance, Margarine or whatever the fuck. You call her when you're stressed out and she says useless shit.

-There is a guy who poops his pants and farts

Mhm.

Meryl's relationship with the colonel as his daughter was revealed in MGS2.

Cambell married Rose to protect her and the child from the Patriots.

In a non-canon Snake Tale.

MGS2 was boring and raiden was a loser, so I never really got into it.

Now Raiden is like a new Grey Fox who has super white blood.

I just killed Laughing Octopus, that was a real ScaryBoss.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, Snake isn't actually old because of Foxdie or any other shit, it's just his natural lifespan. He was born to be like Big Boss, but made so he couldn't be reproduced if captured. So he just gets really old really fast. This whole game is kind of depressing actually, I feel bad for snake. He's all covered in liver spots and whatnot, and his back starts to ache if you crouch a lot.

It's only 800,000 if you play the game on a sunday or wednesday. Honest!

You get an eye patch which acts as radar, it's not as clear cut as the original radars though, it looks/functions a lot more like an actual radar screen

How much of a fanboy am I? I just went out today and bought a PS3 and Metal Gear 4, just because I wanted to play it that badly!

I didn't think much about it until after I had everything set up and was installing MGS4 that I realized, "I just paid $460 to play one fucking game!?!"

I second the ridiculous price sentiment.

And even if it wasn't so ridiculously expensive, they lost me at the end of MGS2 with that shallow, self-indulgent, preachy bullshit.

Then you missed out on one of the greatest games for the PS2, MGS3.
This installment has a lot of cutscenes/narration, but so far I am really enjoying it. I miss the Jungle though, this Arab looking place isn't quite the same.

it's too short.

I missed out on ALL the games for the PS2 except one (FFX), because the piece of shit broke before I even finished my first game on it, similar to how my PS1 broke. That said, one day I'll buy one used (to avoid any money going directly to Sony) and catch up once it's really really cheap. I didn't hate MGS2 and I have no intention of skipping 3, it just wasn't good enough for me to justify the big circle-jerk that surrounds all the subsequent installments' releases. There are franchises that can sell me a console, but MGS ceased to be one of them after part 2.

I'm probably gonna grab a copy of MGS3. I might get 4 once I grab a PS3, but it has to be one of the initial-run 60gb models. I want it backwards compatible with my PS2 games via hardware.

god forbid sony makes some money off of the product that they spent money to make...

I'm gonna wait a year and see if MGS4 gets ported to a system that I own with bonus stuff, like all the MGS games seemed to have done up until this point. if not, I'm sure a ps3 will be cheaper by then, or at least some worthwhile games will be out for it that aren't drakes fortune.

I agree. I'm already on the fight with Liquid in Rex and it feels like most of the game was cutscenes.

Going back to Shadow Moses Island was fucking awesome though. "A surveillance camera?" ecoes in your mind, then the rusted, ancient camera falls and breaks into pieces.

Just go buy the Metal Gear Solid Collection. It's $30 and you get MGS1 (PSX), MGS2:Substance, and MGS3: Substinance. Which the last two are the special editions of the games. However the downside is, that you don't get the 2nd Disc that originally came with MGS3:S.

Subsistence.

Isn't the 2nd disc the one that had the first Metal Gear Online thing? That's useless-- all the servers are shut down.

Also, has anyone got to play the new one?

You're right, Bomber, it's the THIRD disc from the limited edition that is missing. The one that contained the "Metal Gear Solid Saga" on it.

I've had a lot of bad experiences with their products and I don't like them in general, so I don't like the idea of giving them money. Also, I own a good deal of stock in one of their competitors.
