6 Absurd Classes Taught at Actual Colleges

http://www.cracked.com/article_16558_smash-bros-theory-6-absurd-classes-taught-at-actual-colleges.html

I'm been going to college for a few years now, and i thought the bullshit electives i was forced to take were a waste of time but Christ . . . all of this crap on the list does not dictated a whole semester of lectures and most of them are basically trumpeted by going on the internet and hanging out on forums much like this one. I laughed a little, but the thought of spending money on something i could learn about on the fly for free makes my brain hurt. Evil

Yeah, I understand classes like a Poli Sci class that makes you analyze political messages in movies or something, but those are a little out there. Those classes just look like things that rich kids take so they can just cost through college and then get a job at their daddy's company (One of the reason that Penn State exists).

So here's to you Mrs. Robinson. People love you more- oh, nevermind.

At my old university there was a physics professor who held lectures about the science in science-fiction every year in the time before christmas. It was pretty popular since he would discuss the science in movies like Back to the Future and Star Trek. You couldn't get credit for attending though.

Well, I guess it is rubbing off on the high schools as well. I remember taking a credited classes when I was a senior, back several years ago that studied the culture in America during the post World War II era. We are talking, movies, music, trends, TV and anything else you couldn’t imagine that is in sync with our country’s culture; spanning all the way until the 1980’s. That class, along with the 4 semester course on TV Productions was among the best classes I took as electives in high school. Ahhh….the glory days.
