its for dates in history. you can use CE (common era) or BCE (before common era) instead of BC (before Christ) or AD (anno domini)

I figure by the time I'm 50, they'll have come up with a better way to check for prostate cancer. Like a retinal scan or a CAT scan or something. If they haven't, I'll take my chances. I haven't been shoving cigarettes or uranium up my uretha, so I don't really plan on getting prostate cancer.
