*Short Rant Warning*

Let's face it, these guys are all losers and just filler material so far from what I've seen. C.Viper has absolutely nothing interesting going for her at all, especially that she wears a tie and puts her hair in a ponytail just like Cammy. Abel is supposed to be original I guess, but he has a striking resemblance to Geese Howard that I just can't ignore and he's also yet another uninteresting design. El Fuerte is just evidence that there's a mexican wrestler fad going on, Dead or Alive 4 added a mexican wrestler, Virtua Fighter 5 added a mexican wrestler, and now Street Fighter IV adds a mexican wrestler. It's just extremely ****ing annoying and the BS just needs to stop, I applaud Namco for not adding one to Tekken 6, but they kinda ruined that when they added Rock Howard to there lineup.

Rufus is perhaps the only new character that actually gave me some kind of feeling when I saw him. Sure, it was kinda "WTF" but at least he has something going on for him. The other three new characters are just generic as hell, and the final boss for this game just shows that Capcom's designers are running out of ideas. Seth is the final boss of the game, and is basically just a bald Gill that doesn't wear a thong. Hell, there ****ing poses are almost the same.

So yeah, Capcom sucks at being interesting it seems. So while we all get a chance to play as Geese Howard posing as a french guy in SFIV and play as a flat-chested female Rock Howard(Yes, Geese and Rock are related) in Tekken 6, I'll go and play something that is MADE of originality. That's of course Guily Gear, Faust for the ****ing win.

As long as the original 12 (or most of them) are in there, I could care less about the new additions.

If you would've bothered to read my post, you would see that I never said anything about hating new characters. I hate new characters that are uninteresting or seem to be a rip-off of another existing character. Hell, I even hinted that I might like Rufus.

i dont mind the new characters. sure, they can be ripoffs, but who doesnt rip off someone else these days?

i dont mind the luchador, im kind of happy seeing a mexican there. they already had an inj... native american, some jamaican black dude, a chinese bruce lee knock-off, etc etc. they're just running the gamut of races/cultures

Nevertheless, despite me disliking all the designs(Except maybe Rufus). I'm hoping Street Fighter IV delivers like it's first two predecessors did, like Crook said as long as all the originals are there I'll be happy. Plus Dan, Fei Long, and most likely Cammy will be in the console versions, and Dan always makes things better.

Eh, I've always liked King of Fighters better. To me they're Coke and Pepsi (with Street Fighter being Pepsi).

Besides, I'm just pissed off that Rose (probably) isn't going to be in SFIV.

But I agree with you about Seth not being a good addition. He just looks like Generic God-like Boss #912056928.

King of Fighters is great, despite having the cheapest bosses in fighting game history they run a good system and usually a decently balanced roster.

I just hope they don't give the SF III characters the shaft. I haven't seen what Rufus looks like yet, anyone got a link to a pic?

well SFIV is supposed to take place between II + III, so there is a chance they'll get the shaft

What? there was a street fighter III? What system was that for? As far as I know SFII went on forever and then it was SF Alpha. Man, I am out of the loop right now.

Akuma hasn't been confirmed right? I find it strange that they haven't added him yet considering that he's among the more popular characters. Also, I'm hoping Alex comes back.

With Abel covering the "light grappler with striking moves for mixups" I doubt there's a place on the roster for Alex.

Honestly, I agree with the original post. These character's just don't seem interesting to me. I never thought of Abel as a Geese knockoff though. In fact, he's the only new guy that I really like. C. Viper SCREAMS KOF, not just in design, but also gameplay and storyline.

Also for the record, Rufus isn't as original as you think:

Rufus:

Neville from KOF:MI:

Bob from Tekken 6:

Heart from Fist of the North Star:

I'm glad that they brought back the World Warriors, but where are the New Challengers? Some of the World Warriors (Guile, Chun-Li) have no reason to fight after SFII's story (hell, Bison is supposed to be DEAD). Chronologically this game shouldn't be possible. Why didn't they include a few guys from the New Generation. Sean, Yun/Yang, Ibuki, Dudley, for instance. These guys could have fit easily into the story, brought something interesting to the table, and wouldn't have clashed with any of the others character's gameplay. I also kind of wish someone from alpha would have made the cut (even though it makes sense in chronology, considering they weren't around in SFII).

Right now the roster pretty much looks like Super Street Fighter II, but with the new challengers replaced with KOF knockoffs.

Huh, I thought Rufus did seem like Bob from Tekken 6 but I always thought of Bob to be someone who would be so casual as to be actually original at the same time(If you can make any sense out of that). Rufus seemed a tad more weird to me, and I never really played the Maximum Impact games much. I'm just glad Sagat and M.Bison are in, but I'm hoping a few SFIII guys make it in as well.

If Alex doesn't make it, I'll give Abel a chance. I really liked Alex's grappling style, and also that he had enough speed to make it around as well.

the roster you see is the final arcade roster.

and yeah, they pretty much took bob, gave him heart's hair and neville's outfit.

oh and balrog is all about pressure, and dudley is all about mind games. the only thing the two have in common is boxing gloves.

Well there's still hope for more console exclusives, and there's also of course the likely rehash like SFIV: The Second Coming or something like that.

It's always bugged the hell out of me when a numbered sequel takes place before the previous entry. Basically it seems like a remake of SF II. I could have done without having every character from II in there. I'd take Charlie over Guile anyday. The only ones that I wanted to see return were Ryu, Ken, Chun-li, Akuma, Sagat, Vega, and Balrog (though I like Dudley better). Gill was way cooler than Bison too.

Speaking of Generic Bosses in fighting games I think Blaze from Mortal Kombat Armageddon takes the cake.
