It seems like I can't ever find anything on any search engine anymore. The only things I seem to find are:
1. Somebodys Myspace
2. Random song lyrics
3. A random Wikipedia article
4. A place where I can buy some guy's random product
And the list goes on. I used to be able to find stuff at ease, but now it's just a wasteland of uselessness. Anybody agree with me?

What search engine are you using?
Google claims to be trying to clear out all the worthless junk form their pages.
Yahoo keeps quiet but is usually better results.
The new Cuil search engine is still a baby.
MSN, well, who uses MSN anyway?

Usually Google pulls through. If it's something that I think would have a Wikipedia page, I'll usually check that first, though.

I use yahoo as my search engine, and at least half the time I don't even need to do a search to find what I'm looking for; I just type like the first half of what I'm looking for, and whatever I'm trying to find is usually in one of the common searches they show.

Dont people or sites pay google or similar search engines to make sure their page shows up first or something?

No. They can pay for advertisements on search engines, but that's all. Some sites try to manipulate the results in various ways to improve their search rankings though.

Well, thank you! You are a big help. I never would have thought of that by myself.
