Fuck, the only anime I ever liked is about to be made into a horrible movie.

My guess is that since comic book movies have been the hot ticket lately, hollywood wants to turn to anime next, because the magic of CG makes everything awesome Rolling Eyes

First Dragon ball, then akira then Ghost in the shell now cowboy bebop. I've seen Comacizy girls, live action just does not do it for me. What is the point of live action when the ANIMATION is what makes anime appealing to begin with. But who knows, maybe this will good . . . i doubt it though.

Yeah, I can't imagine they won't ruin this. On a side note, is anyone else a little sad that they'll never live to see personally owned starships and faster than light travel?

I'll say what I said on another forum about this:

So this guy who's producing it did Matrix and A Scanner Darkly? OK. I really can't imagine any anime being correctly done in live action, but let's see how this goes.

CB had a lot of good story to it too.

I'm still waiting for the prequel to come out (the whole Spike, Vicious, Julia story) to come out....if ever. There was one for Kenshin, why not CB?

I've said it before, but i'll reiterate. I don't see why anime needs to be redone in live action. The sky is the limit with anime as far as visuals go. Also in the form of anime the most outlandish ideas can be believable, but as soon as you turn it into live action, it just seems absurd. Like i've said, i can understand comic to movie, because you get full motion and sound to still frames, but anime is already all this and I personally like to admire the quality of art in anime.

I don't watch a whole lot of anime, so an animated Cowboy Bebop movie probably wouldn't have peeked my interest. Especially if I had to be familiar with the series in order to understand it. A standalone live-action movie that doesn't require prior knowledge I might watch though. So it's just a case of opening it up to a wider audience (and make more money, duh). From an artistic standpoint there may be no need for the movie to be live-action, but that doesn't necessarily mean that it will be bad.

Consider previous examples in anime to live action conversion, like devilman and sailor moon.

I would not get my hopes up.

http://pseudosarcasm.wordpress.com/2007/07/23/melancholy-of-haruhi-suzumiya-live-action/

live action haruhi suzumiya, you know what's hilarious, none of the actors even remotely look like who they are suppose to patray. You want to know why: Because people don't have base ball size eyes in real life . . . and Mikuru's frisky kittens.

I'm open minded though, is this live action at least good?

I know it'll be at least better done than Speed Racer (complete fail), or the Dragonball movie that's coming out.

It seems possible if they don't try to take it too seriously. Scanner Darkly was amazing, but would have sucked if done any other way, so at least the guy knows precision when it comes to a concept.

So here's to you Mrs. Robinson. People love you more- oh, nevermind.

I once heard rumors of a live-action Neon Genesis Evangelion in the works, but that was over two years ago. I also heard some people think that Robin Williams would be good as the protagonist's father, LOL! (Forgive me, but I totally forget the names of the characters in that show. I haven't seen it in a while)

Sounds good so far. If Steven Spielberg or Michael Bay have anything to do with it though, I'll be disappointed.

Idiots have almost ruined Cowboy Bebop to the point of no return with their horrible fan-fiction and general fan boy bullshit, and I know they would all be in there. I'll just watch it online unless it gets rave reviews.

Casshern did make a good conversion in my opinion. Given, I didnt see too many of the origional episodes, but it was quite an impressive movie.
Death note 1 and 2 are two other anime to live action movies to point out. I love the anime series and have watched it numerous times. The live action counterparts are just as good in my opinion. I just wish I could actually get them dubbed. Oh well, at least the DVD's are multi region.
