Anyone good with camcorders?

I have a Panasonic DV camcorder with an SD card in it (for pictures) and I can't for the life of me figure out how to transfer them to my computer. I have a power cord that plugs into my PC and a blue 'fire wire' I think it's called for transferring data, but it never works. I need to get some pictures off of it, but I can't figure out how.

Often there's a separate USB port/cord specifically for the SD card. Could that be the case?

Worse comes to worse, take the SD card to a Wal Mart or somewhere with a photo station and make a cd, I know that the best option, but until you find or get the correct cord it may be your best bet

If you don't have a firewire port on your computer, you can always buy a cheap card reader

stop being a cheapass and buy a USB card reader for seven bucks at wal mart.
