I did a search to see if there was already a thread on this, but couldn't find one, surprisingly. So, what's the best?
I argue that it's IV: even though IV has maybe the lowest number of great songs, they're the highest quality. But I think it's a tough call. I will say that I've read many people who think it's Physical Graffiti, whereas I think they went downhill hard after IV.

IV and Houses of the Holy for me, then it did seem to slide to be too experimental or weird

Led I.
It's Plant and Page before being all obnoxious and shit.
It has 'Baby I'm Gonna Leave You', 'You Shook Me', 'Communication Breakdown', 'How Many More Times' and the best thing they ever done: 'Dazed And Confused'.

I agree with your album choices. It's hard to choose which one would be the best. Houses has 'Over The Hills' and 'Ocean', but IV has 'Stairway','Black Dog' AND 'Going to California'. I guess I will go with IV.

I'm a big fan of Coda my self, but all of the other albums mentioned so far are good too.

Technically, it should be noted that folk singer Jake Holmes wrote that song, and for some reason, Jimmy Page didn't give credit. It's especially odd to me because my real name is Jake Holmes, so it's actually pretty cool to have the same name as the guy who wrote 'Dazed and Confused'.

That is cool man.
I personally am torn between II, III, and Houses. II is like the blueprint for all my favorite music that came after, III is an amazing blues album, and Houses is so underrated, but it's got nothing but killer on it.
I personally like Presence and In Through The Out Door the least. Presence just sounds like a poor man's Physical Graffitti. And Out Door is just meh.

Tough call for me, but I'm going to go with IV as well.

I think I agree that Houses has a lot of great songs on it, but to my ear Houses is when their sound sort of started to get... 'different'; I'm not sure how to describe it. It sounds less 'raw'. Does anyone know what I mean?

Houses is great, but I think what you are saying Tuckster, if I may, is that it sounds to refined, over produced even. As if, they are reigning in their raw power too much so, and not allowing it to shine through and bludgen us with their greatness.

I get that too, it definitely has that 'cloudy' feeling I don't like in records...very similar to the first two Van Hagar records in comparison to the Roth era stuff. But I think 'Over The Hills' is actually my favorite Zep song ever, so I love the record. And 'No Quarter' is just undescribably elegant and beautiful.
