Yeah that's right, fuck TV. I can't believe how much people pay for 250+ channels when there isn't anything good on in the first place. I use an antenna for my TV and I'm fucking pissed that I need a stupid DTV converter box. What's going to happen to the analog TV?
Anyways, fuck TV. Fuck Dish, Fuck DirecTV, fuck all cable providers. There's never anything good on, and when there is, it's only an hour max. Then you flip through infomercials and reruns just to stop at MTV or VH1 because they are the black holes of television. Once you've fried your brain out, you go to sleep just to wake up to Ron Popeil and some new piece of shit invention he came up with.I liked when there were shows worth watching like ABC's TGIF and NBC's Must See TV, and ABC's One Saturday Morning. You know, all the good primetime things networks had set up. I'm sure there are good shows out there, but I'm not paying 40 bucks a month to watch them. Fuck TV up its component video ass. The only reason I have one is to watch DVD's and public TV and the occasional viewing of the basic four. Oh yeah, and playing video games. Fuck digital television and the stupid converter boxes they keep talking about. Fuck TV. Okay, I'm done, that's all.

I only play videogames/watch movies/read books now. Cutting TV has given me more time to squander.
I highly recommend it.

Anyways, all you really need are DVDs. You can just watch your shows via DVD on your own time. There is a lot of good stuff that has yet to be/may never be released on DVD. But if you aren't watching them on tv or haven't seen them, you don't know what you are missing anyways.

I hope someone sets up an analog pirate station once the digital switch takes place, that would be sweet.
Also I agree with Scamrock, just get it on DVD.

TBS isn't so bad when they show reruns of Seinfeld and Sex and the City.

I've considered that, but it costs money for the DVR and the service, so I figured that option out of the equation. If I could just record from the TV onto a hard drive for free, that'd be sweet.

That would be sweet. Then I'd say fuck DTV and give them all the finger. Hell if I could, I'd set one up.

I highly recommend this as well. TV can be a waste of time if you're not careful.

I pay for the cable, internet, and phone together.
I DVR Law & Order, CSI and a few other shows, my wife enjoys a few others.
We watch movies on the premium channel On Demand.
I like the Discovery & History stations. Sports in HD rules.
I agree that it is a bit expensive, but thats why I earn money, so I can be entertained. I do get frustrated when I feel like there is nothing to watch, but then I go do something else.

Well good for you Rich Uncle Pennybags, now throw me some of that dough so I can afford a damn fancy shmancy DVR dish and 5 billion channels.
Still, I find television as a bigger waste of time and money than the internet. Besides, most TV ends up on the internet anyways. If I had a good enough antenna, I wouldn't care, but for now it's like watching TV in a blizzard.

most cable companies have rebates for DVR's. just threaten to cancel your service (unless you have a contract) and then try to swindle them for a free DVR. thats how my brother got his HD-DVR and i ended up w/the regular DVR box.
or if you cant cancel cause of your contract, just whine and bitch about how unfair it is that only NEW customers get the free DVR whereas you have to pay for yours.
and you can then transfer your DVR stuff to a hard drive since it does have a USB port on it.
and the DVR service is only like $5/month (at least w/direct tv it is)

Fuck T.V. indeed. Have of the time I'm bored is because there isn't anything to do, and by proxy, nothing to watch.

I'm so bananas I'm showing up to your open casket,
to fill it up with explosive gases,
and close it back,
with a lit match in it,
while I sit back, and just hope it catches.
Blow you to fragments,
laugh,
roll you, and smoke the ashes.

That almost brought me to tears.
I brought this point up before, only become lets face it, the internet is the new media and TV can't keep up with it. TV knows it's crap now and will continue to churn crap until the end of time because it's trying so hard to be better then the internet. Sadly, TV is dead, all embrace the internet.

TV is the medium for the best stories to be told. Fuck commercialism, advertising, and marketing for ruining art.
TV forever.

WRONG, books are the best medium for stories to be told, TV is just an adaptation of what has already been written. Still, it is a medium nonetheless.

I'm more of a non-fiction guy. I read a lot of non-fiction. But personally, I'd rather watch a movie than a book.

Books are FAR too internal. Internal is bullshit. There is nothing interesting whatsoever about internal dialogue or setting description. Books can go adapt themselves.
