Hey guys! Just tonight, I remembered an old game show that I watched during the 90s called Supermarket Sweep, which was obviously about supermarkets. I don't remember too much of the show, as I haven't watched it in years, but I somewhat remember the last challenge the contestants did in each episode. They had to pick up various items that were based off of the clues and get back to the starting point before time ran out.
Does anybody else remember that show? Also, feel free to post YouTube videos of the show here.

My mom always made me watch that show. You had to unscramble letters to find brand names or foods for like :10 added on to your shopping time. Multi-choice questions two, and analogies. Then all three teams ran around and grabbed card board cut outs ground coffee, picked up 4 turkeys and diapers and who ever had the most in grociers got to run in the super market for the chance at...$5000 i'm not sure.
In essence the show would be incredibly funny watching it again today, Seeing large women run with shopping carts is a guilty pleasure of mine.

Thanks for reminding me of what they do, Douche McCallister. I forgot that they had to pick up cardboard cutouts as well as certain groceries.
Anyway, I might look for clips on YouTube now.

Who ever got the most money worth of groceries would get to play to final challenge. Everybody would grab ground coffee and the giant hams because those were the most expensive items. (And, I believe you were limited to 5 of each product.)
The final challenge was timed. The host would give the couple the first clue, which would lead them to a product on the shelves that contained the 2nd clue, which would lead them to the 3rd clue, which would lead them to the product that had the $5000 taped to it.

I remember it. It seemed a bit low budget. It was a good idea I guess. It was never anything I went out of my way to watch.

That used to be my favorite gameshow on tv. Now when I think about it, it sounds completely stupid.

No, completely stupid was the spin off gameshow that aired right after it, where people had to answer questions to get points to spend in a mall that built on stage. I don't remember what it was called.

I loved this show. I think they need to start making 'best of' DVDs for game shows.

The show you are thinking of is Shop Till You Drop, and it had a similar idea to Supermarket Sweep, but the people got to keep the prizes they shopped for. It went through a few different versions and then fell down the drain.
David Ruprecht was the host of Supermarket Sweep, which aired from 1990-95 and then again from 2000-2003 on PAX.
He now hosts the vegas version of the Price is Right Live, which is like the Price is Right, just a little different and meant for casino goers.
A few little facts about Supermarket Sweep: Johnny Gilbert announced this gameshow (he currently announces Jeopardy, and is almost as old as Don Pardo). The set is not an actual supermarket, and the contestants didnt get to keep anything they "bought" or the money they "spent", they just won the teal purple or yellow or red or whatever color it was sweatshirt they wore.
Here is David Ruprecht's website if you want to check it out:

They have already released at least one "best of" box set for Family Feud, Match Game and the Price is Right. More are likely to come as they pick up sales. I own the PiR one, and its not bad, but the selection of episodes could have been better.
