What should I expect from X4, X5, and X6?

I played X, X2 and X3 on SNES and emulators, and they range from pretty good to fucking awesome.

It's my understanding that X4, X5, and X6 were not released for Nintendo consoles until this release.

The series really started to go to shit after X6, so all of them are good.

Start with X4 first. It's closer to the originals, and it's the best one of of them.

If you want to be a purist, you only need to play up through X5. X5 was intended by Mega Man creator Keiji Inafune to be the last one. But it sold well, so Capcom greenlit a sequel without his knowledge. X6 follows the X5 formula almost exactly though, so it's a pretty good game as well.

X7, which is not included on the collection, is pretty terrible. X8 is a lot better, but it's also not on the collection. X8 ends in a cliffhanger of sorts, leaving some people desperately waiting for X9.

I have it, it's good.

If you beat X1,2 and 3 you unlock a Megaman racing game.

I'm so bananas I'm showing up to your open casket,
to fill it up with explosive gases,
and close it back,
with a lit match in it,
while I sit back, and just hope it catches.

Blow you to fragments,
laugh,
roll you, and smoke the ashes.

X6 is pretty damn hard, a lot of it has to do with poor design, yet I still like it. X7 was horrible when I first played it but eventually it grew on me. Plus I couldn't leave an X game unbeaten. Why ask what to expect? You already bought the collection, go play them.

Shake it, Quake it, Space Kaboom.

X2 is paused as I type. I'm replaying X-X3 first.

I was bored and away from the GC at the time I asked.

I have to admit, I kinda liked X8. But when I played it, it was before I was really into MegaMan at all, so I was looking at it more as an action platformer and not as a MEGAMAN X game.

X1-X3 are good in my eyes. X4 is where it started to lose me. So far I've only played the X games on my old roommate's copy of X collection on PS2 (He's the one who introduced me to MegaMan, basically). I liked the classic games so much I went out and got my own copy of Anniversary Collection... can't say the same about X.

I've wanted to play X7 for a while though, so I could see the kangaroo-ish maverick. There I said it.

The controls to dash are fucking weird with the control stick.

Sometimes I find it hard to jump and dash at the same time.

And that would be my only problem with it.

You can use the d-pad (without changing the button configuration.

Also, I changed the button configuration (go to options after loading the game but before loading your saved game: At least this works with X and X2). I set the L trigger as dash, because I never use the L and R buttons to choose weapons anyway. Makes it a lot easier to dash and jump.
