Sorry I havnt posted in a while, ive been a bit busy. So anyways, I just got an iPod today and I want some music. Theres a problem though, when I go onto limewire (its what I use) it says still connecting to open web sharing, I put in the band name I want and no results will come. I leave it for an hour or so, so it can connect, I check and it still says enabling open web sharing or whatever. Ive tried turning off my firewall and reinstalling it but it still wont work... Another thing is, it was working perfectly a month ago... Any help?

The only thing I can say is get a different p2p (that's what they're called) http://aresgalaxy.sourceforge.net/
I've tried Limewire, Ares is easier IMO trust me.

roll you, and smoke the ashes.

Sounds like a firewall issue. You gotta open whatever port that program uses.

Frostwire is LimeWire without the shit.

Unrelated: For torrents I use uTorrent.

Soulseek is the best for finding ANYTHING. the only thing I don't like is unlike torrents, you only leech off one person, so the downloads can be slow/or you have to wait in que for your turn.

Every time some idiot returns a computer to Office Depot because it screwed up, they always have LimeWire on there. And then we don't allow them to return it, because LimeWire is a virus ridden crapfest that, when combined with extreme idiocy, causes any normally functioning computer to break down. So, it's their fault.

man, you're harsh. we take the computers back, but only because all we have to do is ship them out to hp or sony and get credits for them. that or we run recovery and box them up and lie and say their new.

We usually either get a percentage back for "defective" returns, or we have to eat the cost.

Heh, I used to work at the OD back in the day. I wish we could have done that. Our manager was such a pushover, he would return anything.

Yeah, our store manager will usually take anything, too. But she made the "no limewire" rule after a HUGE amount of returned PCs one Christmas.

I just got a laptop and was looking for a decent p2p. I'm considering using Frostwire. I read Bomberman's positive comments, and was wondering if the rest of ya'll had any experience with it.
Thanks.

Since the thread was bumped: Thanks! Very Happy

As far as frostwire goes, I haven't used, but if your going for music I suggest Soulseek, especially since you like some of the less than mainstream metal. It's really good for underground stuff. It also has absolutely no extra bullshit attached to it.

SoulSeek is another one I was considering using. I'll probably go with that due to availability of obscure music.
And apologies on the thread revival, but this is something I had to know.
