One of the most memorable things about the original Lost Boys was the movie's theme song, "Cry Little Sister" by Gerard McMann. It was a very powerful theme for a surprisingly well made film. In what was suppose to be just another Corey & Corey film, turned out to be a well scripted blend of Horror, Drama, and Comedy.

Here's the original Theme:

Why did I bring up the theme song to the first movie? Because for the sequel, it was covered by some band called, "Aiden". Never heard of them, but they look like another crap Goth Band. (I wonder if KrisLexia knows of them?) Here's thier shitty version of the theme:

This difference is the perfect analogy for the entire film.

The cover is only 1/3 of the original song. The 1st verse and the chorus twice. That's it. Instead of a chior of children singing the back up, it just one chick. The bridge is complete nonsense, and nothing like the haunting organ from original. It's like the Caffine Free, Diet verson, and so is the sequel to it's Forerunner.

They basically rewrote the script from the first movie by cutting out what they probably considered "extra fluff". Something the rest of us call "Character Development and Plot."

(Here's the Plot outline, stolen from our friends at the Great Wiki)

***After their parents death, Chris and Nicole Emerson move to Luna Bay to live with their Aunt Jillian. While exploring the town Chris leaves his address at the home of Edgar Frog, who has become the towns only surfboard shaper. After returning to their new home Chris decides to sit and watch the ocean, he is there met by Shane Powers, who invites him to a surf party later that night. Chris and his sister go to the party and Nicole is tricked into drinking Shane's blood, thus eventually turning her into a vampire. Shane then takes Nicole for a ride on his motorcycle while her brother is being distracted by a beautiful girl. Chris soon starts to look for Nicole and gets angry with Shane after their return. They leave the party and on the way home Nicole starts to feel sick. Once arriving at their home Nicole attacks Chris, but before she hurts him Edgar Frog knocks her out with a surfboard. Edgar then reveals that he is a vampire hunter, and Nicole has been infected by a member of the undead. Chris then throws Edgar out of the house and puts Nicole to bed. Soon the girl he was with from the party shows up and seduces Chris into making out with her again. While kissing, the girl sprouts fangs and tries to feed on Chris. He then pushes her away, and she is impaled and killed by taxidermy antlers. The next day Chris pays Edgar Frog another visit. Edgar tells Chris that his sister is only half-vampire and will remain that way unless she feeds, and she can be turned human again if they kill the head vampire They decide that Chris will join up with the tribe of vampires and become one of them in order to gain their trust, only to betray them in the end.***

For those of you who know the first film, will see that this basically a hollow version of the 1st. The humor for the most part falls very flat. The gore effects are the quality of the slasher flicks of the 80s. Which is to say, over the top, and almost comical. You will not give a shit about either Chris or Nicole, as you never grow attached to them, because you never learn anything about them, other than He was a surfer, and thier parents died. Not too mention, that the actors have about as much talent as you standard Direct to DVD fare. (Which, this is.)

The only rather surprising highlight of the film, is Corey Feldman reprising his role of Edgar Frog. He reprises the role wonderfully, and is the same Edgar Frog you remember from the first film, just a little older, wiser, and more cynical. He is pretty much the only reason to watch this film.

Corey Haim briefly reprises his role as Sam Emerson, but only appears following a portion of the film's final credits, and for all of one minute. Though, it does set-up another film that sounds 1000x better than this one.

The only other thing that bothers me, is the lack of continuity in the Vampire lore between films. One instance that really stands out is what harms vampires. Here's a memorable scene from the 1st film:

(Sorry about the stupid music part, but this is the only clip of the scene I can find.)

Now, in the sequel when we first meet Edgar Frog, he has garlic hanging up everyone in his trailer, and even consumes it has part of his anti-vampire drink.
Did any of the writers see the first film?

I have to give this piece of shit, only 1 Corey outta 4.

Don't buy it, if you really want to see it rent it, otherwise wait about 6 months, and I am sure it'll be on Sci-Fi channel or something. (As it's about the same quality of most of the terrible horror films they show.)

I have a hard time classifying the second song as Goth rock. While the music itself seem akin to bands like London After Midnight (who I dislike, although more for the lyrical part of the band), the vocals seem more akin to bands like MCR, Panic at the Disco, and Simple Plan to me. Either way, I enjoyed the intro, but once there was singing, that song went downhill fast.

As for the movie, sounds like it blows
