Somewhat off-topic, but I wondered: For the MST3K fans here, did you know the movies before you watched the episodes? Because I could never make it through an episode if I didn't already know the movie. Dividing my attention between the comments and what's on screen is extremely annoying and I always get the feeling that I can't really appreciate each on its own if I have to follow both simultaneously.

No, and most of the movies I would have never made in furher than 10 minutes through, if it wasn't for MST3K.

There's a box set?
I thought they only released a couple of "Best of" discs, because they couldn't get the rights to most of the films?

That might be what I saw, all I remember was the price being disproportinately larger than the size of the set.

There's actually 12 box sets so far (4 episodes each), plus a handful of individual episodes and a 2-episode "Essentials" set with Manos and Santa Claus Conquers the Martians.
And there were only a handful of episodes where I had seen the movie first. Since then, however, I've seen (and own!) many of them unMSTed. Heck, I own a copy of "The Incredibly Strange Creatures Who Stopped Living and Became Mixed Up Zombies" autographed by director Ray Dennis Steckler...

By the way, for anybody who doesn't know this, you can legally download some of the movies from MST3K on the web, either at archive.org or publicdomaintorrents.com. They only offer movies that fell into the public domain, so they don't even come close to having every movie shown on MST3K, but they have other awesomely awful movies there.
(I'm not being paid anything for posting this, but I wish I was.)
