So I've had a few requests from a few different people about Japanese and passing comments that I should teach people a few things. I love Japanese with a passion and I'd be happy to tutor a few people online (especially if you just want to learn Japanese to get by playing an imported Japanese game or something). I was going to start teaching a few things over PM's but it dawned on me, maybe other people might be interested? If you guys are then I wouldn't mind posting stuff here (if mods allow it or whatnot).

I've been studying for about 4 or 5 years now, and for the last 2 and a half years I've spent my free time volunteering for the Japanese professor at my university as her teaching assistant (cause our school is cheap and won't allow her a paid assistant, like a lot of the other foreign language professors have... ugh). I know enough to teach some solid basics of the language if people are interested.

Or I'll just do it over PM's and stop bothering people. Twisted Evil

Mmm? I've never taken Chinese. Mandarian I hear isn't too hard to learn actually, if you get past the insane writing system, because there really is no conjugation for past tense, future tense, etc; you just stick an extra character on the end of the sentence to mark tense. Pretty sweet. It's a tonal language though, and I'm not sure I'll ever get past using tone to mean different words instead of different emotions, like we do in English, hahaaa...

Me too. The basics of Japanese is insanely easy actually, it just gets hard when you add grammar and whatnot, hahaaa. I'd be willing to give a few lessons if people are curious.

I wanna get some sort of comfirmation from one of the mods or Syd before I do this tho, I don't want to make it look like I'm spamming the forum with random Japanese.

I'm sure keeping it in this topic won't be a problem.

we could always do it on aim if there's a fuss.

Why not? Learning more languages is cool, especially if someone's willing to tutor you.

i have a buddy at work who just studies languages like crazy. he rents all the cd's and books he can from the library and he teaches himself at work. and he said mandarin and japanese arent too different from each other. but he did mention how tone plays a huge role in it.

Wow, I'm surprised how many people are responding 8D I figured I'd get maybe a couple of replies, but this is really good.

Alright, gimme a little bit and I'll write up the first "lesson." Gimme some slack; while I've tutored multiple people one-on-one in Japanese, this is the first time I've tried teaching my own "class," so I'll really need feedback and help from you guys. 8D
