The ending theme to Suikoden is one of the greatest single piece of music....ever.
I also really love Harry Gregson-Williams' Metal Gear Solid score.

I have a rediculous ammount of Nobu Uematsu on my computer. Almost as much of that as I have The Clash, and they're my favorite band.

I'd like to add that I think Brawl's soundtrack is the best in video game history.

I think I have 4 versions of the first "Wiley's Castle" theme from Mega Man 2
As far as Brawl goes, the Kid Icarus theme remix is amazing. One of my all time favorite pieces of game music.
All the Final Fantasy games have kickass soundtracks, but my favorite might have to be 8's. Kind of a weeker game, but the soundtrack owned.

the god of war music is not too shabby.
of course, the GTA games always have great soundtracks. but its not original music to the game, so idk if that counts or not.

Yasunori Mitsuda's Chrono Trigger & Chrono Cross soundtracks. But personally, I like Chrono Trigger's OST better.
Actually, I listen to remixes from OCRemix.org of thees two games more than the original soundtracks.
I love OCRemix

That's true. As far as that goes, I ended up buying 7 albums because of the soundtrack of Tony Hawk's Underground, including my first Clash CD. I got into some amazing groups because of that game

That is like rating a greatest hits record as the best in history.
I'm not saying that you are wrong, just that it feels like cheating.
I have always been a fan of the original Unreal Tournament's track list. I don't think its the best ever, but when a frag is needed, it definitely helps to motivate.
Also a few other tunes that I enjoyed:
Lufia 2 - Boss music (not the final boss, just regular bosses)
FFVI - Zeromus music
The Lost Vikings - Space Ship Theme

I really wish either Children of Bodom or possibly Blind Guardian would do a whole album of Mega Man songs. Children of Bodom would make the music better, but I think Blind Guardian would get the ultra cheesy lyrics about Mega fighting Dr. Wiley just right.

Have you tried the Protomen?
Also, the tracks in One Must Fall 2097 are shining examples of what you can do with a tracker.

I like the Super Mario Land Underground theme in Brawl.
Also Napalm Man's music from MM5, especially the remixed version on the Anniversary CD.

The really old Megaman songs, most Zelda songs, the SMB3 music and the SMW music rocks too (you can hear most of these songs in Brawl I suppose the Megaman song I'm refering to is in the "Fanicom Medley")

I'm so bananas I'm showing up to your open casket,
to fill it up with explosive gases,
and close it back,
with a lit match in it,
while I sit back, and just hope it catches.
Blow you to fragments,
laugh,
roll you, and smoke the ashes.
